................... it is a metal exo-suit that can increase a persosn strenght by a certain amount. it also cuts down on how much energy our muscles need to use to lift say... a 100 pound weight.

Some new pics up for the Sarcos/Raytheon exoskeleton that Vth Smith posted at the beginning of this thread:

and a video and info courtesy of Popular Science

http://www.popsci.com/exoskeleton

FYI guys, from the article
"The first suit, built in 2002, didn't even have power. The Sarcos team constructed it to prove that the exoskeleton would be able to move like we do. Jacobsen had one of the engineers strap in and try things like kicking a soccer ball, running, climbing into the tight cab of a bulldozer. This helped them determine that they had the right range of motion and the joints in the right places."

So what we are seeing in the video is version 4 of the Sarcos XOS (exoskeleton). The first version was made in 2002!! And it didn't even have power, it was really just to see if it would be able to do the movements, so there was no functionality except to see if the range of motion was there. So in 6 yrs. this was done.

We may be seeing the Crysis version of exosuits sooner than people think!! Hurray to Steve Jacobsen and Sarcos! Big Grin bow bow

as you can see there are some similarities in the weapon in the upper right to the FFW weapon AND there also seems to be the same type of lower exoskeleton on the JSF soldier on the right if you look at his right leg.

i thought that 1stimage looked similar before
it's that suit sopose to turn the person invisible
i saw it on a fox tel doc once
they say it's still in development

well, take it this way, of course they wont deploy it now, but I see a "bioshock kinda like" big daddy suit with a big gatling gun, kinda like a mdeium armored vehicle,I uno would be kool. But still right now that thing wouldn't be able to aim at an enemy thats at point blank range lol so u gota wait til research goes a bit farther.

Cod, I'll have to send you a short CD that I've was given from the designers of the exoskeleton that you don't like. Trust me, after you see what the finished model looks like, you'll want one. Heck you'll want that one & the black one, cause just like you don't want to be caught wearing the same shirt a few days in a row, you'll want that same fashion sense with the exoskeletons, lol. You're right Spartas, in that CD I mentioned above, it IS like a medium armored vehicle and they have a heavier one for some really tough battlezones. Thumbs Up

I would love to see some more footage on the exo-suit, it looks badass already, I can just imagine how far they could run with the materials they have on hand.

Powered Carrying Rigs will hit the battlefield before any sort of Exo-Suit will. And I'll pass on Exo-Suits to begin with, as they should be only looked as laying the frame work for Power Armor.

seriously atacams lol isn't awesome. What would be more awesome than to live a childhood dream and get intoa sorta armored suit with a galtin gun or a rocket launcher.. with all the gizmos and.... lights inside, and targeting..... man that is awesome.....

Unless of course you target an incoming javelin that you know you cant avoid then....yeah they might wana try a quick eject button or something lol.

Well the Sarcos CD that I keep referring to shows that the exosuit that they are working on is really ONLY the external skeletal system on which to act as the frame. Sarcos' goal is exactly that, powered armor. It would come in medium and heavy versions.

Roger that, as the soldiers in the first trailer with the mini-guns have PCRs and I could see that allowing them to fire on the move with great accuracy.

Yea i can't imagine making a combat exoskeleton and not having it covered in armor. I can see it now....Americas new combat tactic is to ship xbox's and Halo over to every country they are about to invade....give them a month or two to get addicted, then invade with MJOLINOR like armor(or w/e it's called....) and watch everyone run screaming AHHHHHH!!! It's the Demon!!! haha.

Ah, but what if some terrorists get the same idea? They just don't have to ship the games.

Everyone has something they like to do, so should criminals have to right to commit crimes?... Yes, only while the police also have the right to try to stop them.

Maybe another major world power could pull that off with some secret factories, but I think that mass production of this technology will take significant resources. I just recently read the PopSci article and there is definitely some advanced stuff going into the suit.... not to mention an effective portable power source has yet to be made. But they did mention a car battery would supply power for about 40minutes or so.

But 40 minutes is such a short window of opportunity....and there's also the requirement of being able to mass produce the high quality materials, and yes mass produce. If they didn't, then the 1 or 2 guys running around in the super-suits would just be turned into high priority targets that would get devastated by an A-10..... even though they're cool and badass, they're no iron-man, they're still grounded.
