Scratch the first issue i repatched the game and go it to load again, I was reinstalling all my drivers in response to a previous post where my loading my saved games would crash and in my dxdiag directshow failed. Try as i might after reinstalling all my drivers and dx9.0c i still have the same problem, however one of my tech buddies said directshow is for video streaming in windows media player and might not be the problem. Regardless have any more ideas?

But you are not supposed to post [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Might and Magic\mm\Settings].
You are supposed to post
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Might and Magic\mm]

PLUS your game's version.

Ok blind nero, I am tired of you acting like you own the place. The game doesn't work properly for anyone off startup as far as I can tell and half of us don't know how to follow your special requested rules for posting in [post 19] Honestly, I didn't want to read the whole damn post to get the game working! I did it a while ago, back on my old computer WAY before you showed up, that was back when things made sense, people posted a problem with a crash on startup or somesuch and then we posted feedback, I ended up fixing it via something I had to write in the target line of the shortcut, and thanks to all these giant half hour read posts I cant find it anymore. Please just remember that most of us arn't as good with computers with you, half of what you said makes no sense, just answer it in english!!

OK great news! After searching through the archived forums for a couple of minutes I found this post, it helped me totally! Since I know no one ever opens links I will just post the post, it wasn't by me, it was by one of the admins here.

"Alright everybody: important news here:

Please launch your game (steam or dvd) with the param:
+mat_forcemanagedtextureintohardware 0

How to do this?
For Steam User: In the "My Games" menu, right click "Dark Messiah of Might & Magic Single Player", select "Properties", then "Set Launch Options" and add: +mat_forcemanagedtextureintohardware 0

For DVD User: Right Click the shortcut to the game and add on the target exe line +mat_forcemanagedtextureintohardware 0.
With a default installation you should get:

"C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Dark Messiah of Might and Magic\mm.exe" +mat_forcemanagedtextureintohardware 0

It proved to fix:
- Crash on Loading
- Crash on Bink
- FPS down to 1 on GeForce 6800 during gameplay
- Increase Loading times a LOT"
