I downloaded the demo a little while back, and it ran flawlessly on high detail with no slowdown, I loved it so I bought the game off steam. Now the training and 1st level worked fine but now im on level 2 and the game works great for about 2 minutes and then it slowly becomes more stuttery untill its unplayable (on the lowest of the low settings). I have been through all the forums and done everything that has been reccommended can anyone help?

Hotfix .... well ok this isnt exactly a fix so much as a way to reset it without quitting the game so it works fine again, go to your screen resolution settings and change your resolution from your current level to the one below it (if you wish you can immediately set it back again) then after a couple of mins this will slow down to, then set it to higher, it makes no difference which res its on but just changing it re-initializes the graphics system and lets it run smooth again... for a little while

I personally have a PC with a AMD Phenom 9850 Black Edition CPU 4GB of Corsair Dominator X RAM (DDR2 running at 800 (native 1142mhz)) 1.5TB HDD, with a XFX 280 GTX "XFX" overclocked edition(the highest factory oc/d 280 there is) (which can run crysis & crysis warhead at very high all settings max'd at 1900x1200 at 8x AA smoothly) on Windows Vista 64 bit SP1 Ultimate Edi with latest nvidia & dx drivers.

Hell it can manage most of the space scene on extreme settings in benchmarking utility 3D Mark Vantage Advanced Edition at over 20fps which works out as smoothly.

Obviously it'll happily run this game with it's eye's closed, but every 2-3 mins specially when magic is used sometimes less it'll suddenly lag out, and i have to keep swapping the resolution every couple of mi9ns between 1650x1080 and 1900x1200 to fix it, (i can immediately set it to 1900x1200 again but I cant be bothered as I have to do it to much to add the extra step)

I have the steam edition someone make a fix already and Dark Messiah given the release date should not have an issue with 16:10 res's 1900x1200 was a common res at its release date and there no excuse for it not working now.

EDIT:

i tried it in Normal (1600x1200) and 16:9 (1900x1080) and both had the same issue so its not the res

Found a fix thanks to flimbo2009 on main forum

Add -heapsize 1048576 to the launch properties and it works fine

Well it's odd, never happened to me. But i have the DVD version.
I assume it's a Steam only fix/tweak (the fix should be first to reinstall [the latest version of] Steam. But seeing it works for 2 guys already i'll add it to my list.

Ive tried all that, it still gets really laggy untill its unplayable, sometimes as soon as it loads, ive tried the launch options thing, hotfixing works on the enclosed areas of levels

I have the same problem. This game is an unplayable pile of garbage, and I guess there is no solution for those of us that have this problem.
