Game runs great until I reach the gate at stonehelm on horseback. Right when the soldier is dragging the main character across the threshold into the gate, the game will freeze...

The sound continues and I can hear the necromancer attack going on around me.

I can see the heads up display.

I can hear the sound rotating as I rotate my character. I can hear my footsteps.

However, I cannot see anything but a random scene from the prologue level! Almost like a screenshot. Sometimes I see a black or red screen with the HUD.

Is there a solution to this?

I really want to play this game!

That could mean you have onboard soundchip, but maybe there is more out of order. So before i come up with a possible fix, i need to see your dxdiag report.

It is not guaranteed to run without issues on a laptop such as the W3J. Processor is below the requirements, videocard (Mobility Radeon X1600 / 256 MB VRAM with Hypermemory) is no high performer but luckily the screen is only 14" WXGA (1280 x 768); and a 5400 RPM hdd.

First fix these issues:

1. Your videodrivers are almost 3 years out of date. ATI does not support 3d party laptop cards. An you will not get recent drivers from Asus either. Therefore, follow the Mobility Modder instructions in order to install the most recent ATI drivers.

2. You have no sound drivers installed. Currently running the Windows generic audio drivers. Install the proper sounddrivers. Check this page on Asus support, select the Audio driver.

3. Enlarge and fix the paging file to 4096MB min and max.
