Well, that didn't work.. Don't see my X1600 pro vidcard anywhere in dxsupport. In fact, don't see any of the X1000 series in that file. If someone can tell me which file is actually my card, I'd love to try this... |

well I searched your card and also could not find it, However I did find one thing that could be yours. could it be ATI Unknown, it's at the end of the dxsupport.

Also i noticed that all the ATI cards don't have a DxLevel.
Sorry you'll have to figure out this one by yourself. mess around with the unkown ATI part or even copy one and change the name to your cards name. i messed around and im experiencing no more bugs or graphical problems  so it has to work. |

Doing this is the same as adding the -dxlevel 90 switch to run the game.. Fixes my videos and checkerbox for magic weapons but makes game unplayable due to framerate 0 even with all settings to low. Hopefully they get that patch 1.02 out which fixes all the Geforce FX problems

I also had the same problem so I tried DxLevel 70 and it does everything DxLevel 90 does just no Distortion and anti-ailiasing bla bla bla.
still looks great though |

1.) I installed form the DVD
2.) i have the multiplayer installed but not registered 3.) No 4.) no I have audio but no video in the movie sequences the video shows up as a black screen with a white box outline and a diagonal line. When in water my screen goes white, if i have a magic weapon equipped theres a blue checker board pattern across the screen, when i cast firebolt theres a white block around the projectile, bats have a black block around them,and night vision doesnt work. Is there any way to fix this? I havn't had any problems with it crashing, i have actually beaten it in this state but i would like to be able to see whats going on. |

1. yes, I installed from the DVD disc
2. I thought I had installed the multiplayer from the disc as well, ran Steam and when I registered DM on it, it didn't have Multi installed so I installed it on there, but not single player. 3. the single player did not get downloaded from steam, although it asked me if I wanted to. 4.no I did not. |

I downloaded the game of Steam and in the start up vidoes i have a black screen with a wight bordered box with a line tough.. but i can still hear the sounds. My problems do not end hear though, moving on to the load up screen somthing totaly differnt happens. I have a 1cm square randomly in the top left side of my screen which is visable. and the rest of the screen is black. I used to be able to minamize my game then maxamise it and bino i could see everything and i had the game cin's and no real problems with magic wepons. Now if i min the screen it just wont let me back onto the game and all i can do is stare at my desktop why hearing the menu screen music. Any ideas why my game does this?

Well, now that I know my Geforce FX 5500 didn't support Shader 3.0 for DirectX 9.0c, I've bought a new card. I'm getting a Geforce 6600LE. I'm hoping this will do the trick, as the box says that the 6 series is supported (even though it says FX was). This card also is listed as having all the developements of DirectX 9.0c, so I should be good for awhile.  |

Not so fast DSVirus - I have an FX 5500 and the game plays fine, I dont get the videos but the game plays - the problem is with them not you - before you spend any money wait for patch 1.02 and if it doesn't work then go ahead but I'd wait if I were you. According to the list of fixed items in 1.02 your card should work fine.

I didn't update my card for this game, I updated it because it is old and doesn't support DirectX 9.0c. I have the exact same issues as you with the empowered weapons and .bink videos. However, I feel that this PC will be what I use for all my 32bit games, so it should run them well. |

I have a total Steam installation. My video card is a nvidia Geforce 5200.
I get no cinematics at start up, just a blank screen with a single diagnal line. I am also experiencing freeze up while loading games, and occasionally wjen trying to load the program. |

me too i have a black screen with a line through it and i cant see the movies while the game runs fine!! strange!!! maybe it's because i have a geforce fx !!!
so will the problem solve if i patch my game to version 1.1 ??? |

Are you still out there? I was wondering if there's any news on a fixes for the: 1 - Cinematics 2 - Frequent Crashes 3 - White screen of death while underwater. 4 - Checkerboard patterns while using magical weapons. Because these problems are REALLY getting annoying. And, if fixes are not coming, will ubisoft be offering refunds? |

1.Yes 2.Sorta, installed both at the same time when i first got the game 3.I used steam and it did download/upgrade single and multi play 4.Yes, as well as trying without using steam I have a 3G proc, 1G ram, 128MB intel chipset onboard video with DX 9.0c installed and WinMedia 11 installed. I've tried tinkering with the advanced video settings in various layouts to no avail. My problem is this: The game runs well enough except for the video sequences such as at the opening and just before the Stonehelm portion. I hear the audio fine but for the video is displays a black screen with a thin white outline of my display with a diagnol white line. My video card is uptodate as well. I've attempted placing "-dxlevel 90c" onto my shortcuts Target line. |
