geforce fx 5200 , i know that card sucks but i can run the game perfectly but not on dx90c...

That's because we added some shaders FX using Direct X 9 / Pixel Shader 2.0 (like the underwtarer distorsion FX)

I hope You find somthing today..... i give all the information about My probleme...And it not my graphic card not my direct x WHat are all those Bug and when we will have aswer how to repaire it....I try All want the support ask me to do and Nothing MORE THAN MORE BUG

hm ok , but please tell me you guys gonna fix that? and the magic weapons? its annoying because i have to remove most of my magic weapons because i dont even want to use them because of those squires...

ATI Mobility Radeon 9000, 32meg. Runs slow, but runs nonetheless.

The game is perfectly playable on my laptop (with the graphics down). I have minimal crashes, white water won't stop me, and I can still hear what's going on in the cutscenes. But my only two complaints are that the checkers with magical weapons and the white squares for things like the fire arrow make using magic (weapons and spells) more trouble than they're worth. Nevertheless, the game hasn't been out that long and I'm a programmer myself. Bugs happen, especially in a project this large in scale. Thanks for your efforts Arcane, and thanks for a great game. Is the patch here yet?

i have no cinimatics. just the black box with the line through it.
and last night i picked up the lightning daggers (my first magic weapon) and i got the checkerboard over the whole screen.
i could see fine underwater in the boat level, but in the demo when i went under water i got the blinding white screen.
i also do not the get the proper night eye effect, insted of having the blue filter come on it just sort of gets a tiny bit brighter.

I am runnig a Geforce FX 5950 with forceware 91.47 drivers
pentium 2.8GHz
1 gig ram
120 gigs hard drive with more than 50 free gigs

i shoud tell you that i did end up installing the steam version as well just to see if it had the same issues on my pc and it does.

its not that hard to figure out hah

just go into video options and advanced options and BOOM its right there

also i fixed the directX thing

I just typed it wrong in the properties/target

put ONE space and make sure its exactly one space type

-dxlevel
then put ONE space and make sure its ONE space

so it reads

-dxlevel 90c

i think that steam allready uses direct x 90c
but im not sure if you do correctly , rightclick on the icon from singleplayer and click on make desktop shortcut. then rightclick , properties and in the subject line add -dxlevel 90c
then click ok
should be something like this :
"c:\Program Files\Steam\steam.exe" -applaunch 2100 -dxlevel 90c

When I start THe game With DXLEVEL 90c On i cannot go in advanve video Mode because if i Change somthing all go wrong and the only way have been able tocorrect some BUG( Only THE water Bug ) i must right -dxlevel 81
And dxlevel 90c working but dtill have the same BUg and no cinematic chessboard with magical Weapon.... Resolve NOting For ME

i dont fully understand what your saying...
but i think the problem is that your video card cant run direct x 90c settings so it kinda messes with your pc... thats why you need to play on direct x 81 , i have kinda the same problem like you so i guess we need to wait for the next patch.
or buy a new video card that can handle directX 90c.but maybe you have a card that can handle it , could you tell me what kind of video card you have?
and maybe you can try this , but im not sure it will help... but there might be a small chance.
go to steam games
rightclick on singeplayer dark messiah
click on properties
then go to local files
click on : verify intigrity of game cache
when done , try playing the game and MAYBE it will work.

1-2. I have the retail version and when I installed DM I installed both the single and multiplayer versions.

Game settings: For the game settings I set Textures to 'Medium' and the rest to the recommended settings for my system. Using -dxlevel 90c however made mouse movement horrible and crashed the game at the end of beginning map. Also, Hardware and Software Capability both show DirectX 9.0 while previous installation showed Hardware at 8.1 and Software at 9.0.

I also made sure any windows and other application auto-updating was disabled.

The only issue I get now is with an apparent memory leak that stutters, locks up, and eventually crashes. After about 2-3 minutes. I get one of the various reported errors and and have control of windows back. After restarting Windows and then DM I can play again for a while til eventually crashes the same way. Once though it did somehow resolve itself and I could continue gameplay.

The time before it crashes is about a few hours or so.

My system is about 2 years out of date but if it matters here's my config:

Preloaded on steam. mm.exe message. Verified game cache on steam but still same thing happen. Very sad. Saw on forum, about, visual sequences. Disable them on mm.exe file. Still no run on steam. Then, tried to run game by double click on mm.exe in DM folder, in Valve directory. Game work good but no cinematics. Try to start game same way with steam off but no run. Want's steam. Not start with steam but still want it.

i tried the shortcut method the -dxlevel 90c method, with everything on low, it worked, cinematics are back, everything was fixed, but it was laggy and 5 mins into game it crashes everytime... error message was "internal driver error in IDirect3DDevice9:Present()" the error window name is "Engine error"
it didnt hang when i use the normal shortcut... im ok with missing cinematics,but is there a way to turn off the effects for magic weapons that is making the checkered box? i cant use magic weapons becoz of this and im forced to use lousy long sword

i updated my gfx card driver with the latest one(2nov) but still doesnt help at all

and when i swim in water the water is white making me unable to see anything at all, which currently makes me stuck in chapter 5 in the temple because i cant see where im going
and both spells and magical effects has squares around their grafics as well.

sigh i cant continue the game until this is working since i cant swim in blindness obvious

edit: oh and the game itself runs perfectly smooth frames dosnt run slow or anything, just the grafical problem only =)

type "sv_cheats 1" in the console and den "noclip"
i used this method to get past water stages
