I downloaded the Demo for DM after watching several videos on youtube and being awestruck by the combat on the game

When I load the game up, I get a black screen with a white outlined box with a diagonal line through it that covers half the screen. I can still get onto the main menu after skipping these broken cinematics. However, after playing the demo for about 5 minutes the game will randomly close back to the desktop for no reason

I thought this could have been something related to the cinematic problem, so I did that thing on the shortcut to get them to work, and they did. However, after doing that I get horrible stuttering even when the settings are all on low. Therefore I can't play the game long enough to test whether it will still close itself randomly. (Prior to fixiing the cinematic problem, the game ran smoothly on full low graphics settings)

Is there any way to fix this? If I can't, I don't hold much hope that buying the retail version will fix it therefore i won't buy it, but I really want to play it.

You're right, it's an awesome game.
Sorry, i don't provide technical support for the demo.
Just post your dxdiag so i can tell you if your PC fits the requirements for this game, so if you can safely buy it.

Tbh, I think its a problem with my graphics card. It's known to overheat often while playing games which freezes the pc

I have the NVidia FX 5200 128MB, which is one of the worst out aparently

NO card just overheats, unless it is overclocked or the cooling ventilation blocked. There is NO card "known to overheat often". A "dead" card gives no display at all and is cold.

No I know for a fact it overheats, as it is being overused, as it only functions as well as a mediocre 64MB card with its specs so low, hence why it was so cheap. It overheats~pc freezes. By dead I didn't mean literally it didn't work at all (I have another dead card, so I was forced to use this one) I merely meant it wasn't performing properly (game crashes, pc freezes etc)

Yes: FX5200 is fine for 2D, but a low performance card for gaming. Forcing a DX9 game on it using too high settings is choking it > game crashes, pc freezes etc.

But at ultra-low settings the game might run, depending also on the rest of the hardware.

Rest of the hardware isn't too bad...I mean we're not talking quad core here lol

Even on ultra low it ran slow when I changed the command line parameter thingy

I have an Athlon XP 2600 2.09GHz with 1Gig of ram
