Greetings. My loadings are kinda long and that gets anoying in crusades. I know that if I keep my textures low it speeds it up but thats done already. If I increase the RAM of my computer will it speed up the loadings? Good tidings.

Yea, it more than halved it for me when I upped my RAM. How much you got? Playing with your VRAM can help also.

he is probably referring to your virtual memory. go to the control panel>system>advanced. Then under performance click on settings. Click on the advanced tab and find virtual memory. click on change. you should have at least 2048mb. to change it, select no paging file and hit set. restart your comp and go back to that vmem section and select custom size and set it to 2048 for the initial and the maximum. hit set and you should good

VRAM = VideoRAM. The RAM (Random Access Memory) on your videocard.

Thanks Mana. Big Grin

Lerolien: yes, consider 1 GB of system RAM the minimum for games like DM.
I don't know what videocard you have, but the textures are loaded into the VRAM (or GRAM) that is on the card, so for highest settings you'd need a 512MB (DDR3) videocard.
Reading misteerius post i see he means with 'VRAM' the 'virtual RAM' or 'Paging File', this is what Windows and applications start using by lack of physical RAM.
Depending on the settings, DM needs plenty of memory; when the available is not sufficent it will resort to the Paging File, that's why it is strongly recommended to enlarge and fix that to 4096MB.
So, if you need help which exact RAM (type) you need, post the result of Everest.

I have decided to boost my computer a little. I was thinking of a ATI x1560 512mg CArd or a ram boost. Wich would be more drastic?

Assuming [-CA-] means you're living in California USA, i took newegg. For cheapest solution in Single Channel configuration here's your RAM: Kingston ValueRAM 1GB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Desktop Memory - Retail $77.99. It is not exactly the same as you have now but it should work. Add this module in slot 2, 3 or 4 (doesn't matter) to make a total of 1.5 GB system RAM you'll have then, in Single Channel.
For dual channel (faster), your motherboard's manual (download here: http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=P5GD1 scroll down to the 8th post) insists you only apply 1 pair or two pairs of the exact same model. In that case you could take two pairs of this kit (to REPLACE your current RAM): Kingston ValueRAM 1GB (2 x 512MB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 400 (PC2 3200) Dual Channel Kit System Memory - Retail to populate all 4 dimm slots and make a total of 2 GB in dual channel! 2 x $48.49. <-- i would go for this, definately. Smile

X1560? Please no. That's no upgrade from X600. Don't be fooled by the 512MB Videoram on it, it's there for marketing purpose only, but relatively slow DDR2, and the chip is too slow to fully use it, this is just a pimped budget card. You'll be very disappointed.

Depending on how much you are willing to spend:
The X1950XT/512 is an interesting high end DX9 card qua price/performance: SAPPHIRE 100185L Radeon X1950XT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Video Card - Retail $249.99. All games at highest resolution highest settings. Worth every cent. These ATI cards are extremely stable, and no drivers issues (hint hint GF 8800 series).
Note though: 500-Watt power supply or greater, 30 AMPS on the 12 volt rail recommended. I have the X1900XT/512 and use a Coolermaster Realpower 550W.
This HIPER HPU-4K580-MS ATX12V v2.2 580W Power Supply 100 - 120V - Retail is very good too!

Your signature is much longer than your message.

The ASUS P5GD1 is a fine motherboard. Worth upgrading. How much would you be willing to spend, and do you know an online shop you'd buy the parts from?

Cheaper budget card, entry-level midrange: HIS Hightech H165PRQT512GDDN-R Radeon X1650PRO 512MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 IceQ Turbo Video Card - Retail $159.99

Replace your PSU then with: HIPER HPU-4M480-PS ATX12V v2.2 480W Power Supply 100 - 120V AC cUL,TUV,CB,CE,FCC - Retail $49.99 which is a bargain. Smile
