If you had the game runing fine at first and then suddenly turn into a nightmare, you'de better try sthis one.

Thanks to Jesteman666 and to mloowe for the help.

when the game gets to the title screen :

- Go to options
- Select video options (where you can change the resolution)
- change the resolution to 800x600
- Access advanced options and change all of your levels to the minimum.

After start a game or a saved game. This should load without a problem. once you've started the game then go back to the options screen and tweak all your settings to the ones your computer recommends.

Just let me know if it works fine.

Hey Marco What's up with this one. I see a few people are having the same problem I am with inserting the first gem in the spider statue. moonstone gem I think. Anyway you get the gem go back up to put it in the spiders head but no action box appears to insert. We can't progress in the game without doing this, sugestions? Running the retail version.

Jesteman666 and mloowe....how about me who has said to do this on the first day the game got released...and have been saying so ever since...wow...pfft.

Anyway...all this does for me is ensure a good load time, and that the load does not crash.
I would recommend setting your HDR and bloom settings before you load a game, set these at the menu and you can avoid a game crash.

When you change the settings back to what the game recommends, or what you want your settings to be, the game may or may not run fine..

My game is strange...read THIS thread and you will see that changing my settings have strange effects.

Heck! No dice with that one either.
I still get those random crashes. The load is ok (as it was before) ,but after a short period of playing the game simply freezes, the sound starts to loop and then the computer reboots.
It pains me that those crashes are so random. There seems to be no obvious reason. No loading screens, sounds, cinematics, key locations. The game just jams as if it has a mind of its own. I tried setting ALL possible options on low/off/none etc. Turned the volume off. Reduced the resolution to 800x600 - nothing! I think the only stable behaviour I noticed so far was the graphics. The higher they are set, the longer the game lasts. My best in-game time however is 15 minutes (reaching Stonehelm).

Perhaps it has something to do with the video. I'm using 9550 GE 256. People that use that card seem to experience the same kind of problem.

Hope you guys can fix it soon.

ARG EW...isn't that card one of the worst in the 9 series of ATI

I've been chatting with Ubisoft Tech support for 3 days now. Check your dx9, defrag your drive, update drivers. They just need to patch the damn problems. Same chit happend with halfLife2. I founf that if you change the sound from high to medium. then go into the cvar ~ menue and type "mat_forcemanagedtextureintohardware 1". Change the 1 to a zero and submit. This fixed my stuttder problem.

I'll try that for now...after I try my 17th Nvidia driver installation....yes, I have been through a **** load of nvidia drivers, both tweaked and non tweaked...it's great fun :S

I've done a hell of alot...testing drivers is just one thing out of the many i have done.

Do you mean that when you have the crystal in your inventory and you go in front of the spider statue you just cannot combine the crystal with it ?

Are you aiming at the lowest slot, with the crystal inside your inventory ?

yeah, thanks marco, I didn't want to sound selfish or anything, but I havent exactly been the happiest person when it comes to this game.
And seeing as though I'd been spending so long trying to find fixes and test all these things out, it would have been rather nice to get some recognition over some people who probably read what I said in another post, and decided to spread the word...
Anyway...I've just tried out another 6 Nvidia drivers today...also did my 5th reinstall, had also played around with the command line a fair bit and spent alot of time on the steam website aswell as other websites researching the problems others have had..the main thing I was looking for though, was the issue of the game using up so much memory, and hardly any cpu speed...unfortunately, I found nothing on this.

How long can we expect for the patch to come out Marco

Yes the moonsilk crystal in my inventory aiming at the lowest postion and cannot insert it in the spider statue. Weird huh. I did get around it though by reloading to the begining of the chapter and grabing the moonsilk crystal before I went up to the spider statue and then the action box appeared thankfully I thought I was going to be stuck there. uh...excuse me? I wasnt being "WITTY" at all, I was just pointing out the fact that your graphics card is very old, and is considered a low end graphics card...possibly below low end.

Yeah, I have tried just about every suggestion now..even ones that don't even relate to the problems I get in the game...I'm just going to wait for a patch, I've given up...because it's a bug in the games code, not a bug in our systems, I can't access the game code, I probably don't even understand the game code, what variables are used, etc, and therefore, I cannot fix it..
It's an internal code problem...full stop.

Natace is correct your card is well known for giving problems in other games, the effect varies from game to game, as games become more and more demanding over a cards rendering abilities, you will find it will hold you back.
Shop around, you should find a much higher spec card for not too much expense, you`ll be surprised at the difference it makes.

I have a problem, just when I start to play the screen turn black and the game returned to me to windows. And there's an error message that put:

"internal driver error in Idirect3d device9::Present()"

How can I solve it?
