The checkerboard IS one of the problems fixed by 1.02. It's on the list.

This is the only indication of fixing the checkerboard bug with magic weapons that I can see.. but it says "GeForce FX cards" so what about ATI Radeon? ATI Radeon 9200 is the type I have, nothing has been able to fix it yet. -dxlevel 90c , cache check, defrag... making all settings as low as possible.. high as possible.. nothin.

I guess we'll know for sure after the patch is released. The forum mods will be busy as I predict lots of flame if it doesn't fo the trick. I see they finally spoke up about the patch @ http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/8821027804/m/8631034705

uhh... hi..im knew here and im just woundering. if any body else has this problem. i bought the demo and installed it on my comp. oh and i have a GeForce 7600. when i click the shortcut to the demo game it has that little hourglass thing and it shows up for 1 sec then it never starts the game. i waited 2 hours not touching anything on my comp and stil nothing. so i am just woundering how do i fix this problem and if someone else has this problem?

I just want to know whether patch 1.02 will squash the random crash on loading and loading screens bug - it was being tackled according to your 15/11/06 post at the start of this thread - but seemingly missing from your 28/11/06 update? is it going to be tackled by this patch???

Well, there is definately some kind of compatibilty problem with the Radeon 9200. I decided it was time to upgrade so I bought a Radeon 1300xPro for 70$, installed it and now the game runs with no problems except... I have crashed once.

I have the same checkboard problem you had. Everything I tried nothing fixed it.
-dxlevel 80,81,90, Steam cache check, defrag. settings low or high etc and nothing.Problem still there.

I have a radeon x800pro 256mb. I even tried the follolwing drivers 6.8,6.9,6.10 and 6.11 and omega drivers but nothing.

Im pooped to know what the problem is but I have a feeling it has something to do with pixel shaders arent rendered properly in the game.

Short of going out and buying a new card I will have to wait 4 patch 1.02 ans see if this alleviates the problem.

Thanks for your post anyway, at least I was not alone with this problem.

let this be a lesson for everyone, don't buy games which are just released, everytime it is the same shxxt, paying full price, waiting for patches and don't getting any support for the first weeks ( months ?).
i brought this game back to the store after 2 weeks and became a refund of 5 euro (paying it 55 euro).
let us hope that maybe next year after fxxcking up us betatesters ( because that is what we are ) it will be released bugfree for a honest price, so that true gamers could enjoy this game

Has anyone else experienced random objects suddenly turning all bright white in appearance? its gets slowly worse the longer i play.

the game show only 4-5 FPS at minimum settings. It does the same at maximum.
The bug came with the chapter 6,7 and 8.
I can't play with this low frame rate.
What I'll do for fix the bug?

Ok, this might seem behind the times, but it wouldn't be unfair to say that this is possibly the most bug ridden game ever published.

The following statement is from Ubi "Dark Messiah has NO bug whatsoever that prevents the game from running on any well configured and maintained PC that is within the system requirements and hardware-wise can be considered able to run the game normally"

A more blatent flat-out lie I have not seen since Bush was pretending to be president.

Having only recently actually spent money on this game, I was disappointed after 10 minutes of play, when my system crashed like Peter Brock. After trying to find work-arounds for the last week, I have given up all hope of this game ever working properly.

This is not a problem with my system as I have installed the game on no less than 6 completely different computers with the same result. I have installed patches, installed drivers, rolled-back drivers, appended switches to the command line, turned detail up, down and off, adjusted directx settings, all with no joy. The fact that Ubisoft claims that there are no real problems with the game is incredibly offensive at best. It is a shame, as will be avoiding all Ubisoft games like the plague now.

It is obvious that Dark Messiah is little more than a total conversion mod for half-life, very sloppily put together. Such a pity when the game some potential. Happily, I can run half-life 1 and 2 at full detail on my old machine, without so much as an extended loading time. They run absolutly flawlessly, even allowing ALT-Tabbing to the desktop. I run Dark Messiah, and 4 out of 5 times I can't even load a saved game.

If ANYONE has any REASONABLE suggestions, I would be glad to hear them.

For now, I'm going back to pirating games so I know they actually work before I consider spending money on anything.

Very, very, very poor show, Ubisoft. Complete waste of time. Never again!
