Retail Version
AMD Athlon 64 3800+, GeForce 7800GT, 2GB RAM
DirectX 9.0c

At the beginning of Chapter 7, when I grab my backpack again, I get the error: mm.exe has close due to an unexpected error. Send Report.

It tells me it's a Valve error, and that's it. My game just crashes when I try to grab my backpack.

Retail version

Spec
Intel Pentium 4 3.2GHz (Northwood)
Abit IC7-Max-3
Corsair TwinX 1GB DDR XMS4000PT
Point Of View GeForce 6800 Ultra 256MB DDR3

The two main bugs I have are a crash to desktop with an eror that incitates a set of numbers and the message 'memory could not be read'.

The second error being a complete crash and my monitor losing the picture signal (goes black) hard reboot is the only option.

On a further note the more I say to myself, 'ok the devs are trying their best and they promise a patch soon'.. The more angry I get.. Games should never be released in this state.. Period. Further more, if a patch isn't released within a couple of days, it's going back for a refund.

Version: Retail

Spec: AMD Athlon 3.0ghz
ATI Radeon X850pro (256mb)
1gb Ram
Directx 9c

Problem: I have had quiet a few problems and I shall post them because I think everyone might be in the same prediciment.

1) Played DM, ok, got past the tutorial (at last) with 1-3 resets. Get on to the 2nd Chapter and when I would save the game it would crash and I would have to restart my pc. (After I reset my computer twice it let me save)

2) Loading of a saved game, ok it let me load it a few times but then it would stutter and crash trying to load up, I have medium settings and only a few on high nothing that shouldn't effect it.

3) On chapter 3 I went down to the sewer and the game locked up on me again im sure this is another bug within the game.

I like this game so much I could play it for ages any help would be appreciated

Dramatic because it's making me go through all sorts of emotions trying to get it to work.

Intense, because it's making me angry trying to get the game to work, and just when I think i've got something that works..it doesnt!

Fun, well, I don't see any reason for it being fun, except maybe the fact that i've found myself learning a heap of things trying to get the game to work properly, and the fact that I have nothing much else to do.

LAGGY and a COUPLE (few too many)of glitches basically sums it up.

Game Mode: Singleplayer
Collectors edition Razz

Detail Level: High

Computer Specs:

Amd Athlon 62 X2 Dual
Core processor 4200+
2.43Ghz
2.00 GB RAM
Geforce 7300 LE

im having a problem with weapons that have some sort of glow attached to it. For example when i swing a sword from right to left, the glow from the sword stays in the picture when the glow should be following the sword. After a while its red all over the screen and it's impossible to see your enemies. I can only use weapons that doesnt have any glow to it at the moment.

I did actually fix this problem once, but then it appeared again. I reinstalled Dark Messiah, then i updated my graphic drivers. Then it suddenly worked, but when i quit the game and started it again it didnt work. I did try the same process again.

Single player

Detail level- mid/high, low textures

Specs:
6600GT
2.00GHZ rated at 3400+
750mb RAM

The agme randomly minimised, and told me 'unable to lock vertex buffer in (0000x248) in DX8'

or somethign along those liens. Those numebers arn't correct, but it was osmethign liek that.

The only fix iui've tried so far is the one where you rename the .exe to 'mm-direct90c.exe' or whateevr it is, but that didn't help.

Well I for one am very happy of the game. It is everything I expected and runs like a pro. I do hope that problems with other people will clear up but I just want to say that there are some out there that are having a good time. Smile

I've played through SP after my first install smoothly to just past the spider boss. Saved and played MP for a while, MP runs great for me in every way. Next day tried to play SP again and it crashes to the menu at agout 80-90% load every time. If I try to start a new game it crashes to desktop immediately.

Looking at the console I get this error while trying to load:

I have cleaned and repaired my registry, tried reinstall, tried both downloading on steam and using the retail DVD together and seperately, reinstalling video card and sound drivers, defragging, running the settings I used previously and putting everything on the lowest setting, multiple resolutions including widescreen :10 and normal 6:4. I guess I have no choice but to wait for a patch, as I think I've tried just about everything.

Love the game fellas. I couldnt wait to get my bow zoom function happening so i could get a closer look at your models...and that scene on the boat heading to the beach was very nice indeed.

Onto my situation. I dl'd the game through steam. So far i have been getting random crashes of the game when it goes into reloading a saved game.

I also had a crash at one stage when i was under water (at the 'stop them from getting on the boat' scene)....One other thing i noticed on that map is that the ambient sounds turn off when combat starts. When you finally kill the bad guys, the ambient sounds come back...weird...

The game runs 'so so'. I recently played call of Juarez in 1280, and all settings on high with only minor loss in fps when i zoomed in and the depth of field kicked in....Dark Messiah really 'chokes' during combat scenes (mind you all settings are maxed out). Still i run games like battlefield 2 in high detail with no problems. I also run half life 2 in equivalent detail level and its runs really smoothly...

My system

AMD 4000+ Sandiego
Asus A8N SLI premium
2Gig Ram
SLI 7800GTX
EAX sound card

Still, i totally love your game and just want you to know that i look forward to the patch which will hopefully address some of these problems...

cheeers fellaas..

Generally the game runs ok-ish for me with everything on low and my graphics card settings congiured for "best performance".

The game is stuttery in places, but I think that's down to my card being an ATI 128MB 9600XT which quite frankly should have been retired a long time ago.

I also have a problem with motherboard/graphics card compatibility... I have an ASUS motherboard with a KT-400 VIA chipset which doesn't agree with my AGP graphics card so I can't use AGP x8, I have to have it set to x4 only. So I know my system isn't 100%

Anyway, here is the problem(s) with the game. 1)The loading times are frustratingly long and 2) I can play the opening video okay, but it repeats over and over again unless I press "esc". On the other hand the in game videos and cutscenes play very badly with stuttery sound and choppy playback. And again they will get stuck on a repeat play loop unless I press escape.

One question I have though... The steam engine was designed so that it could be "backwards compatible" for trouble shooting. In other words the engine could be run on settings as low as DX7 so people could try lower shaders to see if it solves the problems. So why did you programmers (in your infinate wisdom) see fit to include DX9 shaders that have no fall back on lower settings and negate the ability to run in lower shader settings?

If this is the error I can remember on Steam then its because your either going onto desktop to much minimizing the game.

And its possible that your gfx drivers are out of date, check to see if they are updated

Settings: I have setting all my options to High

Specs: AMD 3500+, 1GB, GF6800GT (AGP,256MB)7200rpm HD (maxtor)

Problem: Demo runs great with every setting on highest. The first level (tutorial) runs great to (low lowding time also). But when i go to the second level (start with riding a horse) there the problems start. First the loading time is about 5 min and my HD is swapping like hell (i think a memory bug, leak or whatever). Then when the game starts it runs a little bit shoppy but not realy bad (shoppy because of HD activities, not because of to low FPS) But then when the action starts (that gaint come in to action) then my HD starts to swap and the game becomes unplayable.

Extra info: When i set my texture to medium it runs ah little bit better but personaly i think there is something wrong in that part of the game because this memory usage it NOT normal anymore !!

THIS IS EXACTLY, EXACTLY thr problem that I have and I have an uber gaiming susystem .. game tale 5 tp 10 minutes to load ... and then the big giant thing inside kills you before you can do anything. I WANT MY MONEY BACK !!!!

where's Marco...I haven't seen him here in some days. Vacation???
It's just that we all post ur dxdiags in this part of the forum. I'm betting this is valuable information for some good haxer and then I hear nothing about it...
Anyhow I got the game going after 2 days of mindblowing frustration with no help from UBI or Arcane -I still get some frequent crashes but it's playable-. The fact that I can play it now has all to do with you guys that had the same problems and went looking for solutions themselfs...So thank you, thank you.... I still hope theu pach it Because playing this game with a really decent rig on medium detail is still a pitty...

ThanX guys
No thanx to UBi
Thanx to arcane for developing this game
No thanx to Arcane for f$!ck1n8 this up in the last phase...Explanations???

Game: Single player
Version: Retail, DVD Collector's Edition
Settings: Mostly Medium
Spec: Intel Pentium M Centrino 2.17 GHZ, 2 GB RAM, GF Go6600 (PCI-E 128MB)

Magical weapons "smears" the screen and cutscenes won't work. I tried adding the "-dxlevel 90c" command to the .exe but that helps with the cutscene SOMETIMES (1 out of 2 cutscenes that I tried) and doesn't help with the magical weapon smearing at all.

Also, with "-dxlevel 90c" the settings resets randomly...in otherwords, when I have that command in the .exe, all the settings are reset to High and max on every option and 800x600 res. everytime I launch the game. Kinda annoying needing the adjust the settings everytime I launch the game.

Other than these issues the game runs perfectly for me, with very decent framerates and stability. (Haven't crashed a single time on me)

Game: Single player
Version: Steam version
Settings: Low
Spec: AMD Athlon XP 3200+, 1 GB RAM, ATI X850XT AGP 256

Problem: While Im at the "logo screen" loading the main menu the game just shuts down, no error message or anything. I've tried every possible solution I could find on the forums but nothing works.
The strange thing is that when I first downloaded the game it ran fine, but when I came home after the weekend it started crashing at startup.
