completely. the in-game screenshot looks like a crummy flash game.

I really like the visual style of the new console PoP but this one just doesn't seem to fit at all. I mean, it's a game about saving the world from a dark corruption and fighting horrific creatures but this looks like it's targeted at <5 year olds.

I just hope this isn't a DS game for the sake of being a DS game. The Gameboy version of SoT was amazing, it followed the storyline, but it was a good game... I just hope this one is better.

I don't really care about graphics that much, but then the game has to be really good in every other aspect for me to like it.

At first glance, I think it does look like it's targeted for a younger age group, but I'll wait a little longer before I say that.

Then again, I don't have a DS anyway. XD

as far as the comment about changing the prince's art again...

the 'Illustrative' art style is definately a focus point of the new council/PC game... but imo i dont think that art would have transfered well to the tiny DS screen... the prince would by a blob of red and blue and skintone, the thick border outline of what i've seen of the Illustrative art would make character detail horrendous on the DS screen



The screen shot didn't quite seem to give me the impression of 'we are following Phantom Hourglass' although there would be nothing wrong with that. I thought PH to be a great game... but i actually got the feeling that(with that pic anyway) they are thinking something like 'we are taking old 2d sidescroll PoP, using better animation, a new story, and throwing in Stylus tricks' which i think would also make a great PoP game...

at the end of the day, i hold no bad feelings about this DS game so far. not the greatest outlook, but nothing bad... and Atleast its no card battle game -_-



P.S. idk if i am right, but about the story: it is using the same idea with the Corruption being the main source of conflict(and maybe this mysterious new infected 'ally') and using 'the same' Prince(same as in, they look the same and both have the glove... both are only commoners before the events)

but i think that is as far as the connection goes. at this point the main game will have the Prince fighting the corruption with Elika... and in the DS game he is trying to escape the corruption with Magus.

They are 2 stories, Similar with Characters and 'forces' but the details make them separate and beyond that; unconnected with each other... after all Ubisoft has made a point to note the DS game stands alone.

maybe it would help to think of it like this: In the PC version the prince is following Path A. in the DS version it is an alternate reality with 1 small change somewhere leading the prince down a different path, path B. Same Prince, Same villian, 2 Realities.

My thoughts too, though PH had more of a top-down quality while this, from that screenshot, seems to be very Castlevanian.

I dunno, I'm not really that enthused about this title. It appears Ubi is trying to get the best of both worlds: a mature audience on consoles and a younger audience on handhelds. I don't know how well Prince of Persia works on opposite sides of the spectrum, especially since I don't know much about the new story that's shaping this new era of PoP. I almost get a Final Fantasy tactics vibe from this, which makes me think more of an RPG style, interact with villagers-esque endeavor.

Why is that the prince of the persia for the ds has a name that is about the story,and the new gen systems just say prince of persia.

The consoles game is titled "Prince of Persia" NO SUB!!

Neat, another fun platformer for the DS.
I wonder if they're going with the 2D / 3D design, just like Sega(TM)did with Sonic Rush(TM).
Maybe it might be more of a side quest that leads up to the Prince's adventure.

Ha! To say the least. "Cel-shading" doesn't translate to "sloppy and ugly." Or at least it doesn't have to. Professional games shouldn't look like they were hacked out in someone's basement >_O C'mon! The DS needs some good platformers! Kick it up a notch!

I actually think the game looks pretty fun. Even the graphics look pretty good. I just wish they would have made the Prince's character design more normal. I mean Ninja Gaiden and Castlevania both have more normal character designs on DS. Not sure how well it will control with the stylus, but it might be pretty fun.

Holy Koran, Batman! A new Prince of Persia game for...urgh...the Dee-ess? Please tell me you're joking. What's this? A game? Looks like a chore from the trailer.
And I'm not usually one to belittle graphics but GAWD! What's the point in Chibi-ing up the Prince to cutesy-wootsy standards if he's gonna end up looking like a freaking lemming? And what's that red ink blot thing that follows him everywhere? Is that the Chibi-ed up Elika. It looks like a moose dressed as little red riding hood in that screenie.

Please excuse me while I deal with any due excitement I should be having for this...game. It appears to be missing.
