You'll be surprised by the amount of people who learn other languages just for fun, just cause you think it's stupid doesn't mean everyone does Roll Eyes

And no, not most people in most countries worth traveling speak English.

Just for the record, knowing to speak foreign languages is always considered a plus when looking for a job.

Well, add me to the list too.

ill never actually NEED to speak another language i live in the US and most of the countries worth traveling to at least most of the people speak some english

Is that the reason why most Americans are monolingual?

Honestly speaking, playing games helped me a lot in learning English, and more importantly, it was the most enjoyable method.

I wasn't implying learning is bad, but my first instinct isn't to go to a video game to do it.

While it seems like a good idea in theory to have a Persian speaking cast to match, the hurdles are pretty high. For one, the developers of the game most likely don't have a Persian speaking writer, so phrases and cliches understood to English-speaking audiences probably wouldn't translate well into Persian. Granted, if they stuck with the Persian language, Ubi would spared the trouble of translating dialogue into the usual French, German and Spanish. But even so, would that really enhance the experience THAT much?

I enjoy foreign films with subtitles (Pan's Labyrinth in particular), but passively watching a movie versus actively playing a game are different experiences. If I'm bounding across gaps and cliffs while Elika and Prince banter, having to look at the bottom of the screen to read subtitles will disrupt my concentration.

Ha, no. Americans are just lazy (myself included). Only country I know of (other than Australia and Great Britain) with a more common English-speaking population is Germany, at least in the major cities from what my mom tells me.

because we most of america doesnt have bordering countries that speak different languages. We've got mexico and canada, pretty much everyone understands english enough in mexico so most people wont take the time to learn.

I don't mind playing a game in which the characters speak a language that I don't understand, as long as they have subtitles in one that I understand. And I am used to reading subtitles, I've been doing that all my life while watching movies on TV. That is how I learned so many foreign languages.

Agreed. That's one reason.
Even if they COULD find good Iranian writers and made the dialogs in Persian, that would be inappropriate for a game with fantasy themes like POP. The POP series are never known for their cultural accuracy!

As I said earlier, giving the characters a little accent MIGHT be appropriate but to have the game fully in Persian is not.

They definitely aren't lazier than Persians (myself included) Sleeping

@Hassan:

Romanian-English-Spanish-Italian-French-Portuguese

BUT, I can't correctly write in all of them since I mostly heard some of them and never wrote. I can read and understand them though. So I need some will, time, some grammar books and a few weeks and I'll learn how to write correctly. Razz

Now change subject, I don't like to talk about me. Shady

EDIT: Romanian - my language, French - in School, English - TV + School, Spanish/Italian/Portuguese - from TV.

What they should do is: hire Adam Sandler and let him the speak the dialogue like he did in "You don't mess with the Zohan". He could also look at the script and make it funnier Happy

Which zohan accent around, i think subtitles are a MUST (for me). I can't understand a word he is saying in the show without any subtitles.

WTH! I can't believe people could actually laugh at what this dude was saying!
All I could understand was "I'm not Arab" "I'm Iranian" and such!
Hopefully, Iranian jokers are generally funnier than this guy!

I agree, he's not very skilled comedian, though it was slightly funny...

Btw, if anything, personally I find middle easterners talk English more clearly than most Europeans, and many Americans...

Hmm, ok, this is my first time seeing him, so I just judged about that Razz my fav. comedians are Mitch Hedberg, Dane Cook, and that dude with the Ahmed the dead terrorist act (forgot his name, lol)

Yeah, true, which is a good thing, I'm surprised that many European countries have English just as a choice, and not a must O_o
