i'm surprised no one thought about this... kotaku, when showing the trailer for the new movie, also mentioned that ubisoft has said they will be doing something to coincide with the release of the new movie... now think about this: where are the sands of time in the new series? no where... it's a different series. so if mechner has trademarked something like "the forgotten sands" doesn't it seem to make sense that this may just be a spin-off game for the movie that actually DOES feature the sands of time? think about it, guys... this is the most plausible explanation. i highly doubt it's got to do with the next REAL PoP release. i doubt we'll see the new gen PoP sequel until at least the holidays of next year. the movie on the other hand comes out in like may of next year.

I really hope to see Warrior Within elements. in the next game.

But the more I think about it, the more I am sure that if Mechner is working on it and is so excited about it, it would be based on the movie. I mean, Disney have the habit of squeezing everything they do until there is no profit of it! haha! and its about Sands... and of course they can't use the sands of time as a title of a game a 2nd time....

The new game of the Prince of Persia series may be annunciated right next year, following the information revealed by Jerry Bruckheimer, the producer of the film based on Ubisoft's saga.

The revelation ocurred during an event related to the arrival of Prince of Persia in the cinemas, where Bruckheimer let escape the commentary "Ubisoft will announce a new game on next Spring, but it isn't our duty to reveal any more informations.”

The date matches with Prince of Persia's debut on the big screen, May 28th of 2010, featuring Jake Gyllenhaal (Donnie Darko, Brokeback Mountain) in the main role.

I don't know if this will actually have anything to do with the movie since we've been told that Ubisoft wouldn't be doing the film's adaptation...
Also, about the "Sands" (from the title Forgotten Sands) debate, it might not have nothing to do with Sands of Time. I mean, Persia is a place with sand, lots of it, it may be anything... It may have a metaphorical theme added to it, it might be nothing at all.

I don't think they gonna make a game based on the movie because what ever is in the movie is already been told in the game.... dagger of time, sands of time, king sharahman, hourglass... what else ...? so what's the point in redoing what is done? unless they make a sequel of sot series

guys, for what my friend in ubi spain told me, we should get news of the next prince of persia when the film comes out. But it cant be a game of the movie. Remember that game is gonna be a ... lego game ...

So .... or they´re bringin out the sequel of pop08, or they´re bringin out a remake of SOT (since there´s no remake of this game, we have a remake of the others, Revelations and Rival Swords, but no SOT one) or they´re just workin on somethin that i cannot understand ...

I think we´ll have to wait til may (when the ubidays start) or ... wait til someone says somethin by accident XD

A lego game?Awesome!Star wars and Batman lego were a great sucess so I dont doubt this will hit the jack pott as well.

yeah, Persia is a place with lots of sand, a metaphorical theme sounds good, maybe they're trying to bring back the old PoP feeling come to think of it, the game started with "into the storm" (which looked like a sand storm, Ahriman metaphor aside) and the epilogue was "leaving the storm" , so the game already had sand references in it, just not in the title

while searching the net i found a cool article written by jordan mechner for MIT press.... which gives real insight into the making of Prince Of Persia The Sands Of Time game........Some new informations....

Did you guys know that according to original Popsot draft of the story had nine characters, including two love interests, two villains, and two helper/mentor characters....and also the action takes place in the Prince's home palace, and the Dagger of Time was an old family treasure.....many more things you should know off.....here read it yourself : making of popsot story

Every PoP Trilogy had a "corrupted" Prince. I want a new corrupted prince.

Hopefully, they make it like the Sand of Time Triology. More fighting (instead of 1 and 1 like the new prince), more traps, and good story telling like SOT.

The new prince is a huge disappointment.

That's not even a gameplay feature ("corrupted" Prince), it belongs to storytelling. I don't see any reason for (re)including it... Really, I don't

It's something we all expect to happen so it's bad for the plot... I prefer to be surprised in an unusual way, something we didn't saw already, experience something I'm not aware of at the momment.

But hey, why not do it both ways, you could have your Corrupted Prince and I could still be surprised by the following storyline. I dunno **

Still... No new news about the game... Oh dear God, when can I ever have that update...?
