I enjoyed PoP 08 thoroughly. Waited until it was 20 bucks at EB two days ago and then purchased it at a price I thought was incredible for a game that was lauded so much by IGN, etc. However, the ending was not only incredibly obvious, it was devastatingly sad, and simultaneously frustrating. I'm sorry, but no one can be so stubborn as to allow the person who taught you faith and sacrifice to waste their effort just because you can't let them go. Obviously the Prince hadn't played Infamous, or else he would have learned that. Now, while I'm criticizing the dev team for their work (you guys rock hard and steady for such a BRILLIANT ending), I am upset for the message that they're are inevitably going to send: that you can gamble the world and it'll be okay. If the Prince and Elika manage to seal Ariman (AGAIN) then that means man>god(s). Can't work in that universe. If Ormazd kicks Ariman's buttocks, then we learn that it's okay to disregard fate and that it all works out in the end. If the Prince allows Elika to sacrifice herself a second time, and then walks away, then we're left with a terribly sad story, and a worthless trip through 2-3 games (i figure). So...you can probably see my frustration, yes?

You should post it at the review thread I think.

But to assure you, we all hate the ending. If some think it's ''deep'' then you are wrong. It's Ubisoft we're talking 'bout.

And generally, a large part hate the game itself because it's no real PoP and the hero is a douchbag.

Gladly, I would rather let EA,Konami or Capcom work on it than Ubisoft.Or the guys who did Psychonauts...

I liked the ending.It stands off from the cliche of the hero and his girlfriend riding on a horse to the sunset and the innevitable "They lived happily ever after".

what i didnt like was the end of the epilogue, how they made it seem like she was kinda starting to forgive him, and then takes off (not that i didnt think she was going to take off on him, mind)

as for your "man>god(s)" idea, well, man is greater than god(s). man creates the god(s) he needs (but lets please not turn this into a religious debate, ok? if you want, PM, but otherwise no) so that type of story is perfectly acceptable.

on one last note: you guys can not seriously tell me i was the only one who thought the prince was actually rather cool.

You're not the only one who thinks the prince is cool too.

Furthermore I liked the way they made him have a cynical and selfish point of view to the world which is refreshing in the sea of stereotipical cliche uber awesome positve testosteron heroes-thats rght Marcus Phoeniks and Master Chief-I'm talkin about you.

yeah, i also liked how they portrayed (rather well, i might add) as a kind of guy who is sick and tired of his way of living, and he has NO idea what he is going to do, then he meets this girl who gives him a purpose and "shows him the light" so to say.

besides, you cant have character developement without whoever starting out as innocent/naive/cynical, can you?

First, E-Rac welcome man, make sure to post this on the review thread, because its very likely this thread will get closed soon (there has been some others like this one before).

Second: Yes guys, but everybodies thinking about the game is just their opinion, period, there's no absolutes... I for one, I think the whole game is a joke, but that's just an opinion, as I said.

@mboltevski: Third... dont come here with that stupid thing that the prince character isnt a clichéd one man, come on, you must be blind not to see how clichéd it really is... that anti-hero, cinical dumb guy has been used so many times before that is even hard to remember, as well as that figure of the rough badass hero guy who is just plain good... The point is, to make a character better than just that; Marcus Fenix is a good example about that, he is a hero, but a complex one with a complex and diferent psyche than the average Rambo and stuff, and is a better developed character than this prince in here; you should even have in mind that Marcus and company are the characters from a FRIGGIN shooter, the game genre known by their emotions emptyness and their sparks and action fullness... Period... On the other hand Master chief is just lame, but who the hell wants Halo because of his charming silent personality?... multiplayer is the name of that game...period again.

@KZarr: And Fourth, ubirrazz doesnt posts in here anymore because it seems like neither him, or anyone with real importance on the dev teams are open to recieve some criticism about their jobs. They actually give me the impression that they condemn it; which is also fine for me now, since Im done saying what I think about this game just to get a "You want to fight against other forum members" from him... Which is also pretty funny for me because I've stated many times before that I couldnt care less if the rest of the world likes this game. @Lester:I didnt said that the prince has something new in his character in the world of gaming(he is not the only one with a gray personality,here's Shepard-oh wait:he saved the universe,no matter if you made him an paragon or an renegade a***** ,so Shep doesnt count as an man/woman with a unique personality-maybe if he joined the Reapers,now that would be awesome as hell .Mmmmmmmmmmmm a reaper Shepard-I'm lovin it ).

Anyway my response was regarding the ending because its lame how people say-oh we knew that coming.And how did they know that the prince was gonna release Ahriman?What gave away the "predictable ending"?

PS:I dont play GOW for the story or characters but because its fun blowin and cutting Locusts.Same goes for Halo.

But what does shepard has to do with this one? if there is a very complex or kinda simple character out there is him/her... Shepard is what you want him to be, thats why he is special; if he is lame its becasue you're lame, or because you're choosing to be that... But he can be as complex, and as awesome or disgusting as you make him to... so you're wrong on that one man. And joining the reapers? That doesnt makes sense because you're the hero in ME, you only get to choose if you do things nicely or you wont, only that, and still you got a lot of more posibilities than other games which actually allow you to switch sides... If you could just change sides whenever you want it would've been another deal, but ME works in other kind of track, you're destined to be the good guy and with that you'll have to work. Thats fine with me.

Bah its okay, I'm not gonna discuss whats up with your or anyone elses opinion about the ending, so, lets forget that one .

Just really play the whole game before judging it that way, finish the campaign, watch the cutscenes there is all the complexity I'm talking about... not just at all the swearing ang all the oscar winning phrases which randomly appear during combat situations those are just there to entretain the player. Come on

The campaign, specially the one from gears 2 is just another deal. Play them, you'll see

The ending is different, I'll give it that, and it's one that seems to polarize the fandom quite dramatically. Devastatingly sad, absolutely, but I wouldn't say obvious. I've been on other communities where people have mentioned that the ending was the moment that made the game for them. In the end, I love that a triple A game had writers brave enough to take the risk.

Of course it could be interpreted a depth ending to throw off the player and then rethink their values and to troll the fans. But really, how I saw it was :''Hurr, you fail, buy the sequel''.

@Lester:I didnt said that Shepard is lame,beyond that-he is a complete human being portrayed masterfully by Bioware-hands down.I just wanted to make a comic relief out of him thats all.

BTW I finished ME as a paragon.I'll go for another round before they release ME2.

As for GOW I played only the first part-yeah thats right,I'm a PC player and pretty mad at Epic games for their "we wont release GOW2 for the pc cuz the game is completely adjusted for the xbox".Yeah right.

only problem is, even the single player has issues in GoW2. i got to the last chapter, on insane, collecting every collectable (cog tags, newspaper articles, the like) except the last chapter, did it with my brother, so i was close to unlocking like 5 different acheivments.... only for the game to bug and i lost all of it, so now to get remotely close to where i was i have to go through it to unlock insane again, then go through it to get back up there, collecting the stuff all over again

nope. epic trys, but "its just to hard!", and dont even get me started on the problems in multiplayer.

which is why i dont see why everyone says ubi is a bad company. beleive me, when ubi starts saying "well, we dont like that everyone uses the gauntlet so much, lets nerf it to the ground!" then ill start saying they need to seriously look at who their hiring.
