I just wanna keep this thread alive by bringing Martin Lawrence ,returns as FBI agent Malcolm Turner, a master of disguise who again goes deep, deep undercover as the corpulent septuagenarian "Big Momma." To avert a national security disaster, Big Momma becomes a nanny housekeeper in the suspect's household â€" only to find him/herself becoming attached to the three children of the dysfunctional clan.

Well, both of the movies I'm going to describe are not very new, but both are good.

The Constant Gardener.

Starring Ralph Fiennes and Rachel Weisz, the film is set in Africa where Tessa (Rachel) starts investigating the mysterious death of many people. It's not the typical murder investigation film, it's a very intelligent movie with superb acting. It's bound to encourage debates due to the delicate subject it treats.

I recommend it very much. The movie is so touching and intriguing at the same time. Both actors offer great performances and an impeccable direction by Meirelles. Rent this DVD and see it!

------------------

A History of Violence.

Directed by David Cronenberg, starring Viggo Mortensen and Maria Bello. This movie is basically about a man living a normal life in his town and with his family. By saving some people from a robbers he becomes the local hero. Soon after, a man (Ed Harris) becomes interested in Tom (Mortensen) and brings his obscure past back.

It's a simple movie. It has a lot of metaphors. Like all Cronenberg movies, it's a different film with so many hidden metaphors. In order to fully enjoy it, you have to analyze what the director was trying to say when he made the movie.

Certainly not for everyone, but for those who like Cronenberg's style, is a must see.

----------------

On a side note, seeing the debate going on, I loved King Kong! Big Grin

Prolink: Indeed both those films were great. I enjoyed watching both of them but A History Of Violence just takes my vote. Watching both is highly recommended.

My late review of 'Jarheads' (I been busy):

First off this film has a military setting but is not a war film. Rather a documentary style on soldiers lives and how they keep themselves busy/entertained during the boring periods of having no war to fight. This film is not pro war or anti war, just a reality of the lives of a group of soldiers and in particular Swoff (Jake Gyllenhaal).

There are some quite funny bits in the film and some emotional too. The cast do their roles justice, with Jamie Foxx above par as usual as Staff Sgt. Sykes.

Overall however there wern't enough entertaining scenes for this to be a fully enjoyable flick. Oscar contender it may be... but may not be everyones cup of tea.

Underworld: Evolution review:

I just saw this movie. I must say I wasx expecting the sequel to crash and burn like most do, but I really liked this movie.

It takes place moments after the first one. It starts off by telling you of two brothers, the first lycan and the first vampire. the basic plot is that the first vampire, markus, has come back to life to ressurect(sp?) his brother, the first lycan, William.

This movie was quite enjoyable. A lot of fighting scenes with blood everywher. There was also nudity, but that didnt ruin the movie. Mixed with all the violence and the nudity, it deserved its 18A rating here in Canada. Thumbs Up

8/10

I watched Evolution on friday. I agree with Arab-prince, the film had some good action sequences in it. Although maybe not as good as the original but still satisfying nonetheless.

And the 'love' scene was barely a 15 scene. The 18 certificate of the film was due to the blood and action which was graphic.
