i stopped checking the AC fan community site. for one, the market place wasn't open... and two, i lost interest. times are tough right now too, so i'm almost considering just gettin the regular edition of AC. we'll see though.

@Ren/John: That Amazon $80 for $40 credit would have been perfect for you two as you could have picked up Uncharted 1 and 2 and then pocket that $40 for something else.

I was very tempted to pick up the latest Ratchet for $40, don't know if Amazon still has that deal.

@John: Pre-Order AC at Amazon has has a $10 credit I think.

Yea, it's annoying the **** out of me with the marketplace still under construction. The UK marketplace was open for a very brief time, but it was glitched so it's already closed. The game comes out in 11 days and the site closes in less than a month. It's not lookin' good. Have you been able to find a job? Or still looking?

Also missed the Amazon deal. ..which was an awkward one anyway. Hopefully s'more will pop up. I was hoping to do a little Christmas shopping with either deal, but was too forgetful and missed the chance

Sucky, man. This economy blows. And no, my place doesn't have anything open. We lost two clients this summer (their work is winding down until they're handed over to their new agencies in the next week or two) and if we don't win this new business pitch there have been rumors our company "won't survive." Ok guys, just looking for some personal opinions here. The summer holidays are coming up and I'm going to get two games to tide me over. I know I'm going to get AC2, but for the second game I'm torn over Dragon Age: Origins or Borderlands. I'm partial to RPGs and I'm certain Origins would provide a ludicrous amount of hours, but Borderlands just looks quirky and fun. Plus I'm WAY more excited about the '87 bazillion guns' aspect that I have any right to.

Thoughts?

I'd actually also be interested in the recommendation from this. I'm getting AC2 as well and my buddy and I are having trouble deciding between DA:O and Borderlands.. So many good games out there lately

In the end, I couldn't resist the 50% off Mass Effect weekend deal on Steam. I mean, the game costs over 20€ in stores, plus the box version is "protected" by SecuROM...and this 'install 3 times and throw away' policy. It's better to go with the Steam version, and 7,50 is a laughable price for such a triple A title.

I guess I wan't the only one who thought so, since I had some problems starting the download due to overloaded servers

anyway, on the gaming front, i went by gamestop today... guess what? no assassin's creed 2 LE preorders anymore. lame? yeah... cause i'm not gonna hurry up and buy this game, let alone spend the extra money for ONE bonus level. not worth it... so i'll call them up on the release day to see if they got any extra LE copies, if not, i'll wait a bit, save some more money, then buy it cheaper on amazon. i guess that's what i get for waiting... but i figured you know... 10 days before release was still gonna be ok for a preorder. i guess not.

@Zerban: Depends I guess. While I'm very partial to the story of games, Dragon Age's fantasy setting never excites me compared to the sci-fi stuff. Borderlands does look fun but then again I heard the story wasn't really there.

Personally, it will be the Wii games (that I mentioned previously) that will be holding my interest during this holiday season asides from AC. I was going to get MW2 but with the price hikes and no PC hardened edition put me off. I'll be picking up the goty edition now. Great job Activision

@Kanuch: I believe they released a DRM remover for ME for PC. I bought the physical disc about a week or two ago for $15 (sorry, the actual amount alludes me) new/shipped. I guess it depends on the cover art and if I like it. The new CE for ME2 looks awesome and I'll definitely be picking a physical copy of that up.

@John: I thought you said you already pre-ordered the CE for AC. Hope someone doesn't come in within that 24? 48? hour pickup window and you might be able to snag it. The CE is Gamestop exclusive. Same thing happened to me with SFIV CE when they ran out on Amazon. Don't want that happening again. Luckily the CE wasn't Gamestop exclusive and a week later it was back in stock.

Onto Brutal Legend. Don't know why I can't get 100% in the game. I bought everything, did all the secondary missions, have all Ironhead Concept Art too. Have you gotten 100% yet?

would you guess that the update of MA on steam actually takes longer than the actual game download? and the transfer speed is the same.

nah, i haven't played it for a while actually. as for AC2, i didn't preorder because i've been trying to conserve money... and i had to spend money on some emergency stuff lately. as for gamestop, they said they only get as many as are preordered usually... so i just gotta hope that someone chooses to downgrade to the regular edition. although, at the same time, i kinda don't wanna pay that much anyway, but i guess i will if i have the opportunity.

@Kanuch: The update is larger then the game?

@John: Amazon gives you $10 for a pre-order I think

Yolk: Seems so. It's weird tho, it would take around 12 hours to download a 10Gb game at 250kbps, but it took aprox 4 and the update took roughly 8 hours. I'm starting to think that it was not really updating, just claiming so.
and you know the difference between a game download on steam and an update download... if you stop updating in the middle of the process, you need to start all over again. shame on steam, for even though weekend deals are sweet, their data management is all over the place.
