What should i tell him? Warrior Within is a good game. But it is not really a prince of persia game.

@making.fear: I'm glad you enjoyed the game enough to make a thread. I'm going to be playing it soon after I finish replaying Sands of Time, I haven't played the entire trilogy since the end of T2T. I should get a lot more out of it now.

Warior Within is just too mature. There is no fantasy anymore. Just because it's a sequel it doesn't mean it's a Prince of Persia. The Prince of Persia games have a unique style which Warrior Within left. Gore, Language ("You bitch!"), Fighting System all of these things hadn't anything to do wth Prince of Persia. They made a unique game and it was a good game. But Prince of Persia was just the title of the game and nothing more. The game itself was very different from what i would expect from a Prince of Persia game.

But now most people play WW first and after that they flame about the new one, because there are not enough fights and the setting is not dark enough and too fantasy like.

If Warrior Within really was a pop game nobody who played WW before any other pop game would complain about things like these.

@Keksus: Just look at the original PoP... which of the following PoPs were more alike in essence and design? IMO it was Warrior within, not SoT, TT and much less the NG one was really alike to the original dark, dungeon formula; and of course, it was a "mature" game... you werent killed by mushrooms like in mario bros or something, PoP had real traps, and spikes, and blades... PoP was a dark game, not a walk in a beautiful fantasy world like NG... so I say WW is more a PoP game than any other else ON THAT matter, which is IMO the most resembling one.
So, respectfully, I disagree with all what you said, and I agree with James.

Look at it this way.
Pop 1 is like WW. Bloody, dark, mature.
Pop 2 is like SOT. Fantasy like, colourful, magic/magical creatures.

Just because WW was dark it doesn't mean that it wasn't a POP game, at least that's my opinion. It's not like they had the technology back then to make the dark athmosphere, the graphics sucked. Sure some things are too much, like that 'b!tch' line, or the clothes that the female charcters were wearing, I agree on that, but still, everything else seemed like POP to me. POP 4 is the least POP game to me. You just run around gathering Light Seeds, I trully hated it. But each to his own opinion. And I did play the old POP, then SoT and then WW, and I ended up loving WW the most.

yeah, Warrior Within is a great POP. For me the last one needs a lot to reach the level of the old ones ...

I hate WW, I think it's the worst POP game ever created (coming from someone who thought was ok when it was released and played about 4 times, then recently played it again and now thinks it sucks) but even I think it's a POP game it's just my least favorite now. I don't mind that it has dark theme and was mature though although most of the environments did make me want to fall asleep. Still, I don't think I can say what's the least POP game since POP is all about change to me. and while POP does have a formula I think POP series has a unique way taking the formula and adding new ideas to it. Whether we like those ideas or not is entirely subjective though but that one reasons why love the POP series because it's not afraid of trying new things.

I agree somewhat with DarkFarah. I personally liked WW least because of the abrupt tone shift, plus the ludicrous storytelling didn't intrigue me, it annoyed me. However, the platforming was still fun. I also started replaying it a few months ago after a several year drought, and I'm having serious trouble getting my bearings (plus I hate the crowmasters, what an annoying enemy).

I also don't understand the debate of what does and doesn't constitute a Prince of Persia game. I haven't played the first 3 original PoPs. But why does it matter? Does that mean you enjoy these games more than I do? I don't think so; plus it's not like the SoT trilogy relates back to the original in any way that I'm missing out on something. I could tell you in a heartbeat if a Zelda or Mario game feels like a Zelda or Mario game. Do I consider WW a PoP game? I guess so. Do I consider it a GOOD game? Not particularly.

Can any one put a pic of the tattoo which the prince has in warrior within i really want a better one than the ones i have. Pls
