Its been a while since Prince of Persia Classic was released. I was wondering when will we be seeing Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow of Flame remade into the form of 2D.5 as it will look really amazing especially with the different locals.

Considering some of the game takes place in some-what of SoT-Palace, WW-Temple, Ruins, and Caves and T2T-streets/beach and Ending. They can make it look really amazing.

Just imagine these scenes in remade with PoP Classic manner on your PSN/XBLA/Windows. Also Ubisoft can release both POP 1 and POP 2 Classic as 25 dollars on the PC.

Honestly, Im not up for another remake. How about they make a DECENT Prince of Persia game this time instead. Something that would rival the SOT trilogy.
When companies start making remakes, that strongly indicates that they are pretty much running out of ideas, so they hope their sales will jump cause they are remaking a classic game on a modern platform.

The last remake was made by Gameloft, Ubisoft's sister company... So its like the actual team worked on the remake. So no harm is done to the POP franchise for either the remake and sequel to POP 2008. Smile

PS: Not many people have played old PoP Games now a days... As the classic franchise makes the old Prince of Persia games a lot more accessible. Smile

And some of them don't even know that there are pop titles before SoT. Indifferent

I would like a remake of PoP2. But it should be released for PC/Mac too.

I just downloaded this game from an abandonware site and emulated it with DOSBox on my mac. I LOVE this game as it was a staple of my childhood. I actually liked it better than the first, but most people would disagree.

Personally I don't think they should remake it. I heard the Xbox Live Arcade version of the first one was only medeocre so why would this one be any better? Whats the point of taking a free game, adding new graphics, and re-packaging it for a price? I wouldn't buy it.

I'm sooooooooooo in love with this game. This is the game that made me fan of PoP. Im in favor of any remake of this game. They can make it 3d style or 2D style. I just need a remake of the game. It would be awesome if ubi releases a 3D remake without losing the essence of the game.Just a single episode.
Consider this ubi.thnx

I'm in. But admittedly, the demo for classic didn't win me over..
SaTF is a big favorite though, and I would love a 2.5D update.

I don't know about anybody else, but I'm getting quite bored of game remakes that are purely graphical upgrades. Even adding a script and revamping the soundtrack still seems a bit cheap.
If they're going to remake the game, it should be an all-hands-on-deck full blast new design.

Agreed. I have Chrono Trigger for DS. It's basically 99.9% of the content from the PSOne remake (including the cutscene videos) plus a couple extra areas. I have nothing against keeping the integrity of the original, but add something new to justify the expense to SOME degree.

Or improve on some aspect of the game that was weak in the original. I liked the Prince of Persia Classic demo all right because the jumping was improved from the original. I don't think I advanced past the first spike trap in PoP because of the controls.

Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame is the best Prince of Persia game ever made! I mean the game is really hard... If Ubi ever remakes this through the Classics series of making the game easier for most people. This will make you guys see that the Sands of Time Trilogy is mostly a remake of this game in terms of locations, the themes and much of the ending of the game.

The points that the critics raised against PoP Classic was that it was too short to warrant the price of the game, which resulted in 7s and 8s out of 10 for the game... All this is corrected with Prince of Persia 2:The Shadow and the Flame as the game is longer and story is fleshed out to be one of the best stories ending that yet to be closed. Frown

The animations in SatF are crappy. So I wouldn't say this is the best PoP game. Razz

The Mac version's animation was pretty good for its time from what I played compared to the PC version.

Tristan, I agree with you on the SNES version sucking.... Fun fact guys, there was Genesis version in beta form, which was worse than the SNES version of the game. Frown

Anyway here's comparison of a similar scene between the Mac and PC version of the game.

Hm, never had one, but damn, this did look good 8/.

I am also getting why a remake would be perfect. I mean, the story made no sense to me,well, teh temple part did. And the ending with the witch man. I know the sign on her head did give some info about her origin, but ****, who is she?

SPOILERS:

The witch caused the death of Prince's parents aka the ruin levels where the Prince finds his Father's sword and his Mother's spirit visits him. The Mother's spirit tells the Prince that he was once a prince from birth instead of a poor beggar that he thinks of himself right now. The witch and the dark forces killed your Father and me. Therefore I sent you down river to save your life. Later I came back to fight alongside your Father, but had the same faith as your Father. So now my son go take revenge on them, which is the eagle headed priests (the dark forces) and the temple levels. (This is where Sands of Time Trilogy can connect with the original Prince of Persia Classic series if look at the enemies in PoP T2T the similarities are uncanny)

Aside from this, the witch brought back the Vizier Jaffar back to life and has been keeping an eye on prince thus was intro of Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame.

Lastly the plot in POP 3D is due to witch as well. But that's a whole other story for another time.

Basically she is the mastermind behind all the problems for the Prince and the Princess in Prince of Persia 1, 2, and 3D. While Jaffar, the Eagle headed priests, and Rugnor/King Assan (PoP 3D) were her pawns at play to do her dirty deeds.

I'd be so happy if The Shadow and the Flame Classic would happen. Then I'd rage against Ubi for not releasing the PC version, cause I still can't believe how could they do it with PoP Classic. When I played The Secret of Monkey Island SE, I enjoyed it just like the original, and I'm sure that would be the situation with PoP Classic too.

I still enjoy replaying POP2 SATF.
Because of all of the whiz-bang AntiVirus, AntiSpyware, Firewall background processes, I usually boot Windows into Safe Mode before playing either legacy POP1 or POP2.
Note: I turn off my Internet connection during that time.

I loved the challenge of the "visual puzzles." In which way should you proceed?
You must first discover a way to open a certain gate or passageway before proceeding.

Finding the Life Upgrades were entertaining and challenging.

The "flying decapitated heads" were a wonderful challenge throughout the game.

If remade, developers should
-- get rid of the 60 minute time limit. "In level" timer challenges are adequate to the enjoyment of the game.

-- incorporate the newer save game/load a saved game technology instead of the grid of limited save games.
When I first played the game not knowing how much time I needed to optimize at the end of each level so that I knew I could make it to the end of the game with enough time ... I struggled in reusing the save game slots. Which slot may I reuse?

-- as in later games, program the enemies to be tougher in battle based upon a player's difficulty level (easy, normal, hard)

-- fix the logic bug on the next to last "flame" level (#14) where you battle all of the eagle guards.
I originally was able to wait on the left side of the wide gap for about two minutes for "all" the eagle guards to run and commit suicide in the wide gap before I long jumped the wide gap. The exit door was open and I proceeded to the final level 15 without performing the important "flame resurrection" scene.
It was not until years later that I discovered the intended way to play the 14th level.

I often have difficulty becoming the flame character on the final level. Is it my fingerwork or just my computer's faster cpu that make it "flame out" after six vibrations ... not getting all the way to eight?
