It has recently come to our attention that members who are new to this forum are not reading and abiding by the rules. Whether this is due to a lack of clarity, the large amount of stickied threads or something else, we do not know. So we decided to try and post all the rules and regulations in this one thread in order to reduce that amount of stickies and hopefully make everything a little more clear.
Now, lately, the quality of forum and the content in it has been rapidly deteriorating " as I'm sure those who come here regularly have noticed. Basically the rules are being broken and ignored by a vast majority of members, which is why we " the PoP moderators " are going to become a lot more strict for a certain period of time. How long this period will last is entirely up to you all. So here are a couple of things members need to take into consideration when they are about to make a post on the forum, and a few new guidelines. 0. Index
I. Before posting A: Are you sure you're in the correct forum? In order to stem the amount of threads being locked due to posts being in the incorrect forum please assist us by making the correct choice before starting a new Topic Thread General/Off-Topic Forum: Discussion related to PoP aswell as Off topic topics and games. Prince Of Persia - Legacy Forum:For all your Prince Of Persia help in game play. Also to dicuss the classic Prince of Persia games Community Technical Help Forum :Computer/console issues that need to be solved along with game problems. It is in everybody's best interest if you keep your posts to the correct forums. From now on we will be locking or moving Community Technical Help threads and/or Hints & Tips Threads we find in the General/Off-Topic Forum! Useless threads will be closed without explanations " if you want to know why your topic was locked, read the rules to find out. B: Has this topic been posted before? Lately, too many new threads containing questions that have already been posted here several times are being created. The forum's being flooded with numerous similar threads. We ask that new members look through the topics of the first 2 or 3 pages, before creating a new thread about a subject that has probably been discussed already. Most, if not all of the info we have about the new PoP game (Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones) and the PoP movie is compiled in the Facts about PoP: The Two Thrones thread and the *All KNOWN facts about the POP MOVIE* thread. The answers to most questions about both subjects will most likely be found in these threads. If you're looking for a picture of anything, use the Official "I want a pic of ..." thread Also, we would like to report the search function is working again aswell. It could very well be you're best friend on the Forums. For a detailed description on how to use this function, follow this link. Duplicate threads " i.e. threads similar to the ones we already have " will be treated as useless. The search function is quick, easy, and always available - we strongly urge you to use it before creating a new topic. Back to the list II. Posting a topic/replying in an existing thread If you're sure you're in the correct forum and you're about to make a post, please keep these guidelines in mind. These rules should be pretty clear and simple to most, but seem to be hard to understand and follow to some. So for clarification, below is a summary of some of the main points of the Terms of Use. Everyone please note, that when you sign up to the forums, you agree to abide by the terms and conditions of these forums. It may be worth reading through them if you aren't sure.
For the full version, please read the Terms of Use page. Failure to abide by these Rules of Conduct will result in the removal of your posting priviledges. The moderators are here to make sure the forums remain fun for all involved, and those that come here with the express purpose of causing trouble will not be welcome and will be banned. Mod bashing will not be allowed under any circumstances. Moderators are volunteers. They didn't volunteer to take your abuse. Use common sense, if you think posting something may offend some people, it probably will so don't post it. If someone offends you DO NOT respond in kind, report it to a moderator and we will deal with it. No swearing, No insults, and no harrassing of members. These are the 3 main rules. Be civil and have fun and respect your fellow members. Back to the list III: Some other things to take into account A: Questions about Signatures and Avatars We want to keep the forums fast loading so we have to minimize usage of pictures to a reasonnable size. Please follow guidelines posted here and restrict test posting to that forum. B: Art related topics Posting PoP fan art should be restricted to the PoP Fanart/Fan Movies + Swordmen Competitions thread. This includes, but is not restricted to, drawings, paintings, .gif files, videos, etc... The only exception are fan fics. These tend to be posted in parts, and to avoid confusion there can be specially created threads for them. Please do not take this as an all clear to go on a fan fic creation spree. C: Soundtracks There's been some confusion as to which links are allowed to be posted on the forum and which aren't, so we decided to state it here once and for all. The only links we'll allow are those to downloads of the PoP:SoT soundtrack - links to the PoP:WW and PoP:T2T soundtracks fall under the category of illegal downloads and will be dealt with as such! (see II.4) D: Appreciation/"Prince vs. _______" threads After an overabundance of these kinds of threads which always led to spamming, flaming, and extremely repetetive posting they are hereby outlawed. The only exceptions to this rule are the already existing Farah and Kaileena appreciation threads. Pleare refrain from creating new threads of this nature lest they be closed. E: The internet This is a place to have fun, and as such, statements made here shouldn't be taken too seriously. The internet in general shouldn't be taken too seriously. When people start to overreact to posts on the forum, the fun gets sucked right out of it. Try to remember that whenever reading a post directed at you. The use of smilies could help better convey your emotions in a post. F: Games/Chat thread People who come here with the sole purpose of playing games and using the chat thread without contributing to the PoP community in any other way will be warned to desist. We know the games on this forum are a way to pass time untill the new game (PoP:T2T) is released, but they are not to be abused. We see some members post exclusively in the game threads in order to raise their post counts or just out of sheer boredom, and that is not what they're intended for. When members get a post count of 200 in 2 days, with 90% of those posts made in game threads we have to step in and say it's getting out of hand. Same goes for the chat thread: we see people posting the same thing over and over again: "Hi, anyone here?" "I'm here" "how are you?" "I'm fine" "Are you?" It's another easy way to basically spam up ones post count. The chat thread is there to talk about whatever you would want to talk about, but it should not be a place for nothing but meaningless hello's and goodbye's. We've been watching it for a while now and people are posting in nothing but oneliners nowadays. Sure, we understand that you can't always reply with an essay - and we don't expect you too - but entire conversations with single line replies going back and forth is a little much and bears too much resemblance to blatant spam. If you're bored and don't know what to do, try doing something constructive like reading a book. Don't just post for the sake of posting " don't post because you don't know what else to do with your time. Everyone is free to post in whichever thread he or she desires within reason. When we notice the games and chat thread are being abused we will step in with a warning for the members in question and if it does not let up, there will be consequences ranging from a probation period in which games/chat thread are off limits to that member, to a suspension or ban from the forums. We'd also like to remind you of the fact that the amount of games is still limited. However, we're allowing 5 games instead of the previously mentionned 4. Any new games that are created will be closed. Once a game has run it's course (the all too familiar 100 pages rule applies here) it can be replaced by either a new addition of the game or an entirely different one. G: "Official________ Thread" threads We've noticed lately people seem to be calling every new thread they create the "Official _____ thread" to draw more attention to it. From now on this will no longer be allowed. When the mods see an overabundance of one particular kind of threads (or numerous threads about one and the same topic) it will be up to them to create one official thread to replace all others in order to prevent flooding. Using the appendage "Official" to make your own threads stand out more will no longer be tolerated. If you do create another official thread the mods will edit the title at their discretion - you have been warned. H: Starforce Starforce, as you all know, is a product used by Ubisoft to protect its games from piracy. They are aware of issues and concerns raised by the community and players of their games and they're looking into the matter. For the time being, no one is prohibiting discussions about Starforce, its pros/cons, how it works, etc... However, if people are posting nothing constructive about this then it merely clogs up the forum with more anti-Starforce feeling, which doesn't really help anyone. If you can't keep the discussions civil and free of flaming and/or blatant bashing, the threads will be closed. If you have any specific Starforce related questions, the best way to get an answer is to contact Ubisoft Technical Support or visit the Starforce website. I: Persia/Iran Debates In recent years, various threads have been created to discuss historical issues/inaccuracies in relation to Prince of Persia. With the majority of these threads turning heated; creating a sour atmosphere within the thread, we decided to close them. As the Moderators don't wish a repeat of yesteryear, we strongly discourage you from creating these type of threads. Remember Prince of Persia is not a history lesson but a game, and should be treated as such. Back to the list IMPORTANT: Rule breaking is really getting out of hand lately, so these rules WILL be enforced more strictly by all Moderators. If you break a rule once, you'll be warned. If you then break one a second time you'll receive a suspension and the third offence will result in a permanent ban from all Ubi-forums, as will the evasion of minor suspensions. This will be done at the sole discretion of the mods. Always remember that just because Mods aren't posting, doesn't mean they're not present and observing the forum. Thanks for your attention and your cooperation, --The Prince of Persia Mod Team-- This message has been edited. Signature Guidelines
Hi Everyone Please review the below guidelines and fix yours if neccessary. Avatars * Avatar should be no bigger than 15kb in file size. * Avatar should be 64 pixels wide * 64 pixels tall before the forum auto-resize function. Signatures ? The total size of graphics in the signature, even if it is made up of several individual graphic files, must not exceed a total of 60kb in file size, and all image files together must fit within a 500 pixels wide x 150 pixels tall box. ? Users may have 4 lines of text (including links), each no more than 80 characters (including spaces) per line. Please note that an empty row with no text is still considered a "line of text". Finally please remember that all sig/avatar tests should be performed ONLY in the Test Forum. Examples ------------------------------ 1. User has a 500 pixel wide, 150 pixel tall image and four lines of text with no more than 80 characters per line. Result: ALLOWED. This meets the image restrictions, and the text restrictions. 2. User has a 500 pixel wide, 150 pixel tall image and two additional "sig sticks" each 19 pixels tall. Result: NOT ALLOWED. All images combined must be within the 500 pixels wide, 150 tall limit. 3. User has a 500 pixel wide, 150 pixel tall image and has the following additional text:
Result: NOT ALLOWED. The text is using 7 rows (even if there's only text in 4 of them) which is more than the 4 lines of text limit. 4. User has no images in their sig, and only has 5 lines of text. Result: NOT ALLOWED. Users are only allowed 4 lines of text. -- The BA Moderation Team -- IMPORTANT - AVATAR RESIZING The Forum software automatically resizes the Avatar's to 64 x 64 pixels. However the bytes remain the same as the original size. It is very important that you stick to 15kb and ensure that before you set your avatar that it doesn't exceed the dimensions and size set out above. There is another reason why this needs to be enforced. If the link to the avatar doesn't work - the Forum software doesn't resize it - messing up the thread layout. I appreciate your co-operation on this. ADDING SIGNATURE AND AVATARS To place a pic in your signature do the following:
IMPORTANT ALL READ!!! Avatars & Sigs; Keep them clean and appropriate. Determination of what is clean and/or appropriate is at the sole discretion of the admins and mods. Violators will not be warned and will be banned. Consider this your first and final warning. If you think your sig or avatar may be inappropriate, it probably is, so don't risk a ban over it. This will be strictly enforced, regardless of who the perpetrator is. NOTE: The Sig and Avatar threads on all UBI forums are monitored. Anyone caught trying to increase their post count on the sly by spamming the test threads of several different forums will be noticed. IMAGE FORMATS Please use Image Formats: *.JPEG or *.PNG. These are smaller in size than *.BMP. So if you are using a *.BMP Signature, please change it to *.JPEG or *.PNG. Doing so will speed up page loads. This message has been edited.
