Hi guys,
It's great to be able to post this now and you may have seen it go out on a few websites: Ubisoft has officially announced that a new Prince of Persia game is scheduled to release Holiday 2008 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Here's a snippet from the press release:

How is Ubisoft going to start the hype for the game if its less than almost 7 to 8 months away...

I'm interested to see what they mean by "new breed of gameplay," "rejuvinate the action-adventure genre," and "brand-new illustrative art style." I can't wait to hear more.
Edit: (I posted this in another thread but thought it might be good in here). I just saw the scans of the Joypad feature. I can't read any of it, but the artstyle is pretty different (if these are screens in the magazine). I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. I'm leaning towards it being pretty cool looking. It's a sort of cel-shaded/drawn look like what they inferred in the PR. I imagine people will be pretty divided over this look though. He was also using that gauntlet/claw thing to help run on walls and slide down them. There was also a pic of him fighting some monster thing with a...you guessed it sword. The monster had that blue smoke coming from it's eyes like from the website. Man I'm even more excited about this now. Word was we might hear more tomorrow. My friends is helping me translate... I let you guys know tomorrow or so.
Yeah I don't know it looks like a painting yet that was attained my the sands of time look. Yet it has Warrior Within darkness in it... So its definitely is in between. A bit disappointed yet pleased. I really can't tell until more professional screen shots are revealed. I'll reserve my judgment for later as it seems to have the same type of situation cell-shaded games looks awesome in motion and terrible/average in screen shots. I still can't believe that its the same engine though. For the old timers here: Its a cross between PoP 3D's mountain levels and PoP 2: The shadow and the flame... More like the former in the art direction, which Dark yet authentic.

I found out a little from the preview that someone translated. It's sounds interesting and a bit different. I like what I read, but really want to read it for myself in English so I can really get a feel for what it's going to be like. What the guy translated barely talked about platforming though which dissappointed me, but I still think it will be a focus, just wanted to hear them say a bit about it (they might have, just maybe this guy didn't post much about it). Anyway hopefully tomorrow will bring more news.
Edit: Actually he did say the prince has more movement capabilites or something and the levels have more verticality to them. He also mentioned that the glove is used for sliding along walls and stuff. I guess I missed that the first time. Can't wait to see it in motion. |

I was just kind of saying what he said, but the pictures show it happening when he is running along a wall horizontally (though I'm not sure how the glove was helping there). The other picture he uses it to slide down a wall kind of like when the prince would slide down curtains in WW and T2T, but without needing a curtain I guess. And in both pictures the glove/claw/gauntlet would kind of scrape the wall. So I guess you could wall-run maybe then kind slide down the wall at the end and jump away to another platform. Not really sure. I guess we'll have to wait and see. |

Scraping the wall seems like it would slow him down, but I understand you're not a Ubi rep who holds all the secrets.

The cell shaded thing is going to be completely awesome!
I always thought how much more awesome Warrior Within would've been if it had been smoothly cell-shaded with the pretty awesome ligthing effects. Now, this is going to make allll my dweams come twue!  Release the stars! |
