Welcome to the 8th iteration of the Anime Thread!
I just got back from a 1 week cruise through the Mediterranean Sea to open this thread. I’m Rona and this time it’s my turn to host this meeting point of otaku and other creatures without a real life  First of all the most important thing: AT#8 is the “Speedy Penguin Edition” Why? Because I wrote this post in less than a day and one day my penguins will reign over the world, but until then, have fun  Newbie? You’ll be one of us so fast, you won’t know what hit you! Here in the AT we are a happy family (Yolky is the mother ) and we take don’t bite, so feel free to ask anything ^^ What is anime? It may be that you wander in here because you saw the AT in the thread list and wondered ‘What the &%°§ are anime? Well, to get you covered I copied Khaled’s text to this topic. I hope nobody notices  Anime is, as defined by this article from theOtaku.com, "A new type/style of drama in Japan which uses fictional, 2-D characters instead of real people, and has many different genres (Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Adventure, Comedy, Romance etc) and each Anime has is own suited, mostly not targeted age groups because of the varying elements of maturity within the different shows themselves." Everyone in here has his/her own taste and would suggest another starting point to what is the way of the otaku. We are not strict in general (not until the penguins arrive at least  ), but these few rules you should follow.

Instead of ‘I don’t like it.’ In reply of a topic that is already 3 pages gone, you should write something along the lines of ‘ I don’t like this, now he’s gonna turn the AT into his Penguin HQ!’ If you’re replying to a post just one or two above yours though, you can use whatever broken sentences fragment you like To add another thing to the Reply Format: As I said, you can use quote tags, but please keep them to a minimum and don’t quote the quote of a quote of another quote. They may be useful for replying to something a few pages ago, but we’re the AT and not a ladder factory. Spoiler Format Where there’s talking, there’s spoilers. Since we do not want to ruin everything for the people who haven’t seen the anime yet, we use Spoiler Tags and since this forum dowsn’t have that function, we just created a workaround. Since the forum’s change to blue, our spoiler tags got a little more complicated. Ideally you should use Firefox to view the AT. If you don’t, it’s not that big of a deal, but GET IT NOW *penguin commanding pose* For those who do, here’s Yolky’s explanation:
Always use green spoiler tags: "Anime Title" Spoilers Your sentence... This is how it will look in your window: "Anime Title" Spoilers [color:green]Your sentence...[/color] If you don’t want to do the change via Stylish, please still post in green, because any other color is still readable and green works for both. and to contribute something: I have to continue Yu Yu Hakusho. One of our exchange students from Japan recommended it and I watched the first 5 episodes so far. It's cool (most old anime are, I guess --> Vision of Escaflowne etc.) so far ^^

All right!A new thread.
 So in order to combo break the spam my first post will be regarding the sad news I got today:-namely Warner brothers has made the making of LAM Akira its top priority.  And just as I thought that Di Caprio's abandoning the project is ode of joy I get this while drinkin my morning cofee. In other good news there are new producers for the filming of the LAM version of Voltron,but I dont care cuz Voltron is not that big of a deal.  The new Prince of Persia Lightbringers [Cathy,Cristi,Bobby, Max,Harry and Michelle] All will be lost...like tears in the rain.Time to die. |

Welcome Back!I hope your maritime trip was enjoyable. Just a few requests from "mother" since I didn't get to them before you got back. Please increase my age a year (usually one less than John's) and add my new icon to Clannad and Higurashi. It would look awesome in front of Q's Arigatou! I'm just looking at all the animes on the list, never knew I watched that much anime all this time. Btw does anyone know if Soul Eater is any good? Is it one those anime's that takes one or two episodes to get really interesting? I just want to know because after I finish watching canaan, I'm thinking about watching that next.

Canaan is great from what I've been watching, my sister actually got me into it so I have to give credit to her.
There are 5 episodes out right now and I think episode 6 is out already, I have to check. The anime starts off a little slow in the first episodes but it get's better and more interesting in the later ones. Also, I remember reading somewhere there are going to be 3 Canaan movies to end the anime in October, so I can't wait to see those. Oh and the Opening is awesome. So Soul Eater is pretty good?
