Aww, you have my sympathy Angie. I know how it feels, as many do too. It's always hard to say good-bye to a member of the family, no matter what they are. *HUGS*

I remember I started this thread a few years ago. And now I'm very sad to say that I'll be visiting this thread yet again. Yesterday I was forced to make one of the probably hardest decisions in my life so far, I had to decide to put my horse to sleep.Sad Those who know me knows how much my horses mean to me, they are such a big part of my life and who I am. Yesterday was a complete nightmare. The memories from yesterday afternoon/evening are now rerunning themselves in my mind like a terrible movie over and over again. At the moment I'm at a stage where the tears have at the moment dried out and now all there is is this emptiness. That is one of the worst things, the awful emptiness that is left when someone you love so much is gone.

And my horse wasn't even very old for his breed, he was 15 now, could have had something like another 10 years in front of him if he hadn't accidentally been kicked by another horse a few months back. What happened was he got a fractured tooth way back in his mouth when that happened, and I've spent so much time, effort, and money on trying to treat it. But now it came to a point when the vet decided he couldn't do anything to help him. The fractured tooth was positioned in a such a way it was not possible to remove it either without there being far too many bad consequences for the horse.

Today has so far been like a blur of emptiness and sadness, and I don't even want to set foot in the stable right now, it's too empty and painful. Yesterday was a bit of a shock, we thought we were going to the hospital for another threatment and instead I came home without a horse.Sad

May my beloved friend rest in peace.

I am ssssoooo sorry to hear that Sad I know what it is like to loose a fury friend. Thats a shame Sad He was a cutie too Sad Eyes

Life can be brutal sometimes. Some have it worse than others. But loss is something everyone has to experience in their life time, no matter how good of a life you have. Your going to hit it eventually. But the most important thing is to keep in high spirits. Yes, there may be alot of bad things going on, but just look at the good! Your family, friends, and even the roof over your head!

You can make it though this Angie Smile I know you can. I updated my sig for you too!

Angie thats so sad Frown think he´s in a better place now, and he rests in peace. I´m so sorry for you Frown that´s what happens with animals ... you start to love them and they become one more in the family, and that makes it harder when their day arrives. I am afraid of thinking what will happen when my dog´s day arrives.
The only thing we can do is enjoy with them as much as we can, make them happy and make them feel that thay´re not just animals Frown

Remember that he will always be alive in your memories Frown

Thanks everyone.Smile Well as with everything else I suppose time will take care of things and it will hurt less. At the moment those funfilled memories are very painful to think about though...hopefully that will change with time.

A bit of a clarification, it's not the dog in the intropost who died yesterday. That was posted three years ago.Smile I just resurrected the thread since it's pretty much the same topic again - the loss of a much beloved pet and friend. The one who died yesterday was my horse, as posted in my above post on this page, pics of him included.

Thanks for your words and the virtual hugs...Smile

I know how you feel angel.

I lived through several generations of rat pets, and I remember every of them dearly.

I miss every one of the little guys.

;_;

Now you make me ronnery.

I am so sorry for your loss Angelina Frown. I know how it feels.

I had a German Sheppard named Taggy. He was our guard dog. He was pure army bred... So energetic and lively. He was just a puppy when my grand dad brought him home for us. So loyal and affectionate. Then one day we had an attempted robbery incident at our house. Taggy confronted the robber but he was stabbed. The wound was fatal and my treasured taggy bled to death.

For a very long period of time, I never wanted to look at another dog let alone get one since it really did hurt losing Taggy like that. Quite recently though my husband decided to adopt an aging Elk hound/Huskie mix who he named "Maximus" since he reminds him of the war dog from the movie Gladiator. I had a hard time getting attached to Maximus because unlike Taggy, Maximus is older and not as energetic. Overtime though, he proved to be a very protective handsome and cool dog. I can never forget Taggy but Maximus is such a Joy to be around! He is so wonderful! I truly have two very cool and wonderful guys living in my house hehe!
