Here is my Review of the Epilogue:

The Good
--------

* Ramped Up difficulty - In acrobatics, there are far more tremors everywhere, and yea you had to look forward to the other traps to get past them. The Alchemist Trap and the Concubine's bird thing were actually more deadly in this.

The Acrobatic Sequences in general were more tough, like you seriously cant finish the dlc the first time by just relaxing and tapping buttons with one hand like the full game, and this upped the enjoyment for me and my mates.

* The New Powerup - I liked it because it was involved in the Acrobatics. This should have been in the original game instead of the Wings of Ormazd Power.

* The Environment - It complemented what it was meant to be. Dark, quiet etc. I think they did a good job on this one.

* Combat - I think they done the QTE's much better in the DLC, and i quite liked the new attack where you keep on tapping X.

* Music - I liked the the new music they added, as well as the best songs from the concubine/alchemist fights. Im glad that they put the music that played in the Speed Art Drawing of the Prince, into the DLC.

The Bad
-------

* Too short - This is what everyone are going to say..... but it was a DLC after all...

* Too expensive - it costs around $19 in New Zealand. To be fair, when looking at exchange rates, we would end up benefiting slightly from this price, but then flower was $10 US and ended up costing $15 NZ here.... strange

* Minimal Story Development - The relationship between Elika and the Prince didnt develop that much at all.... Infact, I especially thought Elikas reaction was underwhelming at the beginning of the game, and at the end [SPOILER] she just randomly leaves the prince.... Thanks for another random cliffhanger....

* Shapeshifter - Who? How is he defeated exactly? Your last encounter with him is like the other fights... nothing special happens then he dissapears. There is no background info on him at all... he just appears in the game, then dissapears.

No innovation at all from ubisoft... I thought you would actually end up fighting the shapeshifter in his NORMAL mode, when hes not mutated into anything, but i guess not...

Well, if the original POP was this difficult, and had the energise power instead of the wings power, then it could have been my candidate for the game of the year...

What i would like to see is that if ubisoft make a PROLOGUE so we get to learn about the prince's past.

And btw PC gamers, you didnt miss out on much at all in my opinion, since most of you guys were worried about the story, there was no relationship development between the Prince and Elika. Elika's father ends up getting stronger, and then Elika leaves you at the end...

@Cathy: Frown you have my condolences... Ubi, thats betrayal! Nuh uh Hope you get it soon;

Now, Everything looks exactly as I predicted it... a low quality DLC, that only makes me glad of not downloading it Smile. Still, I wont just throw reckless acusations, thats for noobs, Ill play it in a few days in a pals house and Ill bring my hateful but true full review back here.

I really like the DLC, it is more difficult than the main game, but when i saw the trophy for the garden riddle I thought that would be difficult. But in fact, it was easier than all the "riddles" in the main game, that sucked a little bit. But apart from that it is great.

And I have one final and very difficult question....

How does this damn new sprint attack work!? ^^
Didn´t find out the button combination for the PS3 anywhere^^

I absolutely loved the DLC. I felt the character interaction was awesome. I think Elika's actions were realistic. She died, thought she had saved the world from this dark god for another 1000 years and then the person who helped her accomplish this, someone she had grown to like, not only revives her, but destroys the temple and sets Ahriman free in the process. She's depressed and ****ed off at him. I wouldn't be talking to someone who just devastated me like that either and I would be very short in my responses and aggressive towards him if I had to to talk about him. I also loved the arguing between them, it was very well done and I really felt the emotions that were running through them during it.

As for the actual gameplay, I absolutely loved it. Discovering how intense the platforming is, which is much more challenging than the main game, was just epic. I can't tell you how many times I was like, "OH ****!!!!" I'm used to being very fast through the main Prince of Persia game because it isn't so challenging, so keeping that pace up in the DLC while narrowly avoiding corruption and seeing the corruption used in such a way that reminds me of the traps in the last trilogy was awesome. The game also makes you keep up that pace with the environmental corruption and ... insect corruption that come after you during these times. The achievement/Trophy to kill all the spawning enemies BEFORE they spawn also do this.

I also had the same feeling with discovering the new combat move for the first time, I like to dodge up to enemies that are far away by mashing the acrobatic button so seeing that mashing it did THAT for the first time was very thrilling for me. I used that move a lot. It's just so satisfying to have the Prince smash an enemy down like that. Very well done, had me talking trash the enemies the entire time, haha, "how's the ground, *****!?!?! HOWS THE GROUND?!?!"

I had to admit I was stuck on the puzzle that you get the achievement/trophy for, but once I figured out the last bit, it was just so obvious it was just a "duh" moment. I'd say the only thing that really confused me was fighting the Fallen King guy who was really Ahriman or whoever? At times I couldn't tell if I should hit him with my sword or use Elika, it just got too confusing by making him use an ability that turns him blue. I'd use my sword attack, have it get countered, say huh? Then throw Elika and see it burst and go ohhh. So other times I would throw Elika during that and he would toss her to the ground! Very confusing.

As for the ending, like the original ending, I loved it. I just want more now! I've already bothered my boss because she has a DS. I'm going to play that version of the game since I know it takes place after all of that. Overall, I think the DLC was fantabulous!

It's low quality in terms story and combat mostly story though. Be warned you might need some coffee cause the battles get really boring and old real fast. Too Happy The platforming is a bit nice though and right now I'm going back to get the rest of the trophies. The ending was pretty awful but after playing ratchet quest for booty and god of war for psp I'm used to cliffhangers. Razz

@darkfarah: LOLOLOL! Thanks for the warning; I started playing it today like 20 minutes and then the lights went off Too Happy I think destiny doesnt want me to destroy this game... but I dont care I will! LMAO
But, what I could in the minutes I played it, is that the combat is exactly the same Frown and that shapeshifter is such a lame character, Ubi got lazy...
Ill be back with more later Mad

  • The length was fine, about what I expected from DLC.
  • The level design was incredibly fun with the linearity and increased challenge (and made me grin at the cleverness of the developers in a few places), but a couple spots seemed a little frustrating for the sake of being frustrating. Overall I'm very happy in this area, though.
  • Combat is starting to get old. It still looks pretty, but it just doesn't feel varied enough anymore, even with the sprint power (which you don't even have to use). I didn't like the Shapeshifter at all, seemed like an artificial game-length-extender and I just wanted him to go away so I could get back to the platforming. Elika's father was still interesting to fight, though.
  • The story is a mixed bag. The beginning was pretty weak. How did the Prince magically find this place? It just starts with him walking into some random doors and then "oh no we have to get out". Elika's initial reaction was underwhelming, I though she'd really verbally assault the Prince after that slap, but no, she just runs away in silence. Her emotions start to pick up about halfway through if you use the dialog feature, which made me think "I see how she is, she can't get her true feelings out yet because she has to think for awhile" and then I really thought things were going ramp up, but no, she basically goes back to being mostly generic responses, and then leaves the Prince to die or whatever at the end.

Overall:

Platforming was a joy. Combat is getting old. Art style and music are still top notch. I preferred the ending to the original game over the events that happen here, and consider this DLC as more of a platforming map-pack with a "pretend" story as an excuse to be there.

Wow everyone is upset and f***** for the dlc.
From what I've read on the spoiler posts they made the ending like a teenage soap serie.Come to think of it the only teenage soap serie I watched was "Beverly Hills 90210". Profile

I also want to point out that it made absolutely no sense how, in the beginning, Elika has no clue where you are or how to escape, because she's never been outside her city. But suddenly toward the end she just knows where to go and how close you are to escaping, and then she flies off on her own to go find her people. How in the world is she going to do that if she's never even left her own city and knows nothing about the outside world? Razz

Nearly exactly how I felt as well. I did miss a few features of gameplay:
* I don't know why, but I kinda missed searching for those silly light seeds.
* I wish Ubi could have integrated the map and teleport somehow.

Oh, I almost forgot...The prototype Elika skin is super freaky! (this goes in the Good section)

No realese for the PC...? I'm really dissapointed. I mean, I guess I can understand...but it still kind of hurts. I'm one of those people who just can't afford a 360 and all that (I'm actually using my family's computer to play PoP because I don't have to money to even upgrade my own...hah!), so it kind of stinks. I'm a HUGE fan of this game so I love to get whatever content I can get from this series.

I guess I can always watch the gameplay via a video website or something, and I know I'm not totally missing out from what I heard, but still...bah. :/

I'm not really going to whine and complain about this (I'm not mad, just disappointed as I pointed out), but I would had thought PC would had deserved this more...I mean, PoP did start out on the PC.

I want to make a minor note, here: we aren't left with a cliffhanger. The story continues in "Prince of Persia: The Fallen King". When it was released, "The Fallen King" kind of seemed like a spin-off, as the ending of "Prince of Persia" and the beginning of "The Fallen King" didn't match up very well. In "The Fallen King" the Prince is suddenly alone, seeking Ormazd to banish the fully-released Ahriman; seeking the King of one City of the New Dawn. The last we saw him in "Prince of Persia", he was carrying Elika away from the temple.

There was no connection; what happened to the Prince and Elika to make them split? Why was the Prince so dedicated to re-trapping Ahriman, as he describes, "for Princess Elika." Epilogue makes sense of the connection between these two games, and details Elika's feelings, and how and why she leaves the Prince. It now makes sense why the Prince is so dedicated to her and her cause. It now makes sense why she left him.

Thank you Ubi ! I really enjoyed the epilogue even though i was hugely disappointed by the full game !
about the epilogue plus some notes for the next game :
+The platforming was harder and really enjoyable ^^
+The garden puzzle was not hard but was really good, I hope that we can see more like this in the next PoP ^^
+I began to really like the new prince and elika after hating them in the full game. The reason is that the dialogs and voice acting were better! much better !
+OST & visuals were good
+the plates segments became enjoyable and the new ability was good. oh and thank you for not including the wings of ormazd !
-the fights were harder but still not good, I really think that it should be changed or improved dramatically in the next game !
-WE WANT MORE & MORE BOSSES W/ DIFFERENT MOVES AND STYLES NOT JUST DIFFERENT VOICES AND SHAPES
-The in demand-dialog system should work in any position, if not it must be REMOVED ! and just make the characters talk automatically !
-In the next game, make the prince learn new moves to fight with also elika ! we want her to learn fighting spells !

Overall, I spent 3 hours of continuous fun thanks to this epilogue. Definitely, it was worth $10 ^^
