Not sure if this is new infor but…

The latest GameInformer has a brief feature showing off the early concept designs for some recent video game characters, along with an explanation for why they were changed to their final look. Ben Mattes has this to say about Elika’s and the Prince’s redesign.

In the original design of The prince and Elika, The Prince looks dynamic, combat oriented, and his dress shows elements of luxury and culture as well as pure functionality. Elika is seductive, magical (note the glowing white hair) but still strong and independent. Unfortunately these designs did not test very well either internally or with focus groups. The Prince looked too much like a ninja and out of place in the fantasy Persia environment we planned to use. Elika’s style and glow did not test well because they made her too ethereal and thus unapproachable for a human – it would be impossible for the two to fall in love. Taking this feedback, we went back to the drawing board and came up with the designs for the characters we use in the final game.

Just something to ponder over I suppose.

I'm glad they changed the designs. While the prototype Prince is ok, I still prefer his current outfit. Plus, I really hate prototype Elika. It's like he says in the quote, she just doesn't look human. In her current incarnation, she looks and sounds like she could karate-chop your *** - and being played by Kari 'Lady' 'Ashe' Wahlgren helps. But then those three times the Prince has to carry her she just looks like she needs a hug

huh, i always thought that elika's white hair was because they just didnt color it in.

but the two princes look the same to me, other than colors.

and also: GIVE ELIKA SOME SHOES!

the phrase "it would be impossible for the two to fall in love" means they planned at least 1 sequel from the beginning where we see the 2 in love
