well, here is my 2-cents about the new PoP:

Combat: while i liked the back and forth flow (especially with elikas father, that felt like a real duel) i thought it was un-prince like behavior, especially against the warrior. you have "histories most agile warrior" and yet he pretty much just sits there and attacks straight on. doesnt say "histories most agile warrior" to me.

Boss Battles: with the exception of elikas dad, i thought this game also didnt stand up to its predecesor in its boss battles. whose idea is it really to attack a giant rock thing in its front? sarcasm aside, i think that the warrior shouldve been more scrambling to find a way to take him down (a broken bridge, maybe?) instead of shoving him into a corner. i have more, but this is already getting too long.

stealth: *will be graphic* part of what i loved about T2T was the speed kills (never played WW), so i would absolutely love if ubi put it back in (along with M-rating). it would even work with the buttons: B for a gauntlet attack (snap their neck as an example), X for Sword attack (running them through), Y for Elika (maybe a Jedi Force Crush?) and A is the classic over-the-shoulder-into-the-gut, and then give us the freedom to mix them (e.i. i drop down, gauntlet the first dude, step forward and run the other guy through).

Elika: good work with her, i must say she is my favorite PoP femme fatale. more development is needed though

prince: awesome character, i thought he and elika started to mesh nicely towards the end. as with elika, give us more development.

Open Worldness: did not think it worked, sorry. i would rather it went on the same type of world as the other ones, where it was completly linear.

if i think of anything else, ill post it

Come to think of it the first part of POP 2008 is more like a introduction, something like The fellowship of the ring.

If Ubi managed to make AC2 improved gameplay wisely then I can expect the new POP sequel shall become what "The empire strikes back" is to "New hope".But that's just me Smile

I wouldn't mind Prince of Persia, becoming an acrobatic Zelda. Think about it, you would get a nice trade-off between linear dungeon stretches (and story) and open world environments- and what Zelda like games do PS3 and 360 owners have?

me too

I don;t like big world.
It kinda lost in it. xD have enough with FallOut3 and Oblivion

For me? I always tried to finish the game as fast as possible at the first time then re-play if it attractive enough.

I guess it's natural for a Prince of Persia adventure to feature a pretty linear experience. The point is very simple... POP is done to be cinematic and to transmit an amazing (and unique) story. With this sense it's imperative for us to follow very closely the story, the characters and the world instead of giving away atention to secondary details (like "Where to go next?" or "Damn... Help me, I'm lost!").

Don't get me wrong, the power of choice is a good feature to share on a POP game but... Prince of Persia should be more about straight foward action and plot, and much less about secondary options Smile

@gguest: I dunno, a Zelda formula might work, it might not. I know as a longtime Zelda player I'm quite tired of its formula; I know that whenever I pick up a Zelda game I'm going to have to rummage around to battle dungeons for weapons that I need to access other dungeons. I didn't mind the linearity of Two Thrones the way it transitioned you to boss fights and whatnot. An open-city environment could be effective with a stronger learning curve. Zelda has the curve built in with its progression.

Amen, mate. If a game has a compelling enough story, I want to hurry up and hop to it to see what happens. And then if that experience was good enough, I'll replay it to attempt more sidequests and whatnot.

I wanted the Light Seed Master achievement in PoP, but not bad enough to not see how it ended first Smile

Enough of this argument already, if you wanna call it PoP, it should have PoP elements, this game doesn't, and as such, fans who are disappointed have every right to be so, I for one feel cheated, I was expecting another PoP experience, yet I got something totally different, and not in a good way. I'm just glad I borrowed the game from a friend instead of wasting $50 on this.
No you weren't; you were one of the folk complaining about it from second one.

My word to the developers is simple: pick up on the problems, fix them, and make the game better. If the problem is the open worldness of the game, then by all means, fix it. However, if they can improve it and make it work better, then I'm all for that. Otherwise, I'm not gonna go about telling the developers how to do their job.
