I have just bought a new laptop and I plan to install SHIII/GWX. I know some people had problems with SHIII and Windows Vista. Is there anything specific I should know?

For the 32 bit Vista version you'll have to update your starforce drivers - if your SH3 is starforced!

SF Update

For the 64 bit Vista version you are doomed to PM me. There is no official solution, but we can deal with it.

Update Vista to get all the available compatibility patches first. You may want to install into C:\games to fool the Vista UAC feature.

You mean a 64 bit operating system? Ohhh no. Expect PMs when I get my SHIII in a few days.

I have played SH III since it come out,but then I bought a new PC with Vista 64 and have been out of SHIII eight mons...I have eased pain playing SHIV but I still miss SHIII.

Here is how,
Install your Game to Programme Files(x86)
Ubisoft will create a Folder there for you,
Do not install to your C Drive,
Always run your patches As Administrator with Vista,

I had major problems installing to Vista 64 bit Home Premium. I tried all the suggestions with no success. In the end I did the following.
1: Installed SH3 as an administrator to a changed directory. Not default.
2: Inatalled 1.4 patch in the new directory as administrator
3: Installed Grey Wolves 3.0
4: Installed SH3 Commander
5: Installed Grey wolves 3.0 SH3 Commander Patch
6: Installed Grey Wolves 3.0 Update
7: did something which is probably illegal so you will have to work this one out for your selves.

Framerates vary from 80fps on the Bridge in Port to 400fps on the Navigation Department. It seems very stable. I have not altered my screen resolution.

Hello Agian. I know I should of done this sooner but I still have a problem with SHIII/GWX and Vista. I can play the game but cant load saved games. Would SH3 Commander have anything to do with that? I do belive I instaleed the cfg files but...

If you have installed the latest Grey Wolves 3.0. I think you will find it is not save game compatable with previous versions.

I know that. I had started a new carear. And I think I didint install the cfg files because I "re-installed" them and everything is working good.

Bump. My PC crashed and I lost all my Files. for Vista. Is Mittelwaechter still around?

I seem to have the same problem many people are having with SH3 and Vista x64. After patching, a "protection" message pops up and refuses to run. My copy is back from the early days, so I imagine it has SF on it. I would appreciate any help or counsel you could give me. Thank you.
