Hey all! Foe has some news from his university.

As I was walking from the first lecture to the library today, I noticed something out of the ordinary.

4 fire trucks and a few campus security... police... dudes.

Apparently there was an electrical fire somewhere. And seeing how half the buildings on campus are interconnected, they had to close a few of them. Those nearest the fire.

Here's an e-mail we all got.

"Dear Roman,
Buildings have been closed on campus due to an electrical fire. The Hamilton Spectator is reporting 10 buildings. Buildings affected that we have been told include:* Arts quad (KTH, CNH, TSH, Degroote Building)* Gilmour hall* University hall* DBAC/Ivor Wynne* Commons* Some buildings in North quad (woodstock and mckay confirmed) We are posting continual updates on MacInsiders.com as well as updates are being posted by students in the forums. Due to the building closures, some classes may be canceled.
Regards,The MacInsiders Team"

On the Wireless in the Bentley today, The BBC had a Genealogist in to talk about tracing ancestors who served in WW1.

It was fascinating, people were phoning in, this chap was using various databases to search through and was finding servicemen, their place of death, regiment, rank and in some cases their grave locations.

Anyways, I thought that with the 90th Armistice Anniversary just days away, I would post up what looks like a very handy database tool that might throw up some interest for those amongst us that had relatives that served in the Great War.

I'll be using it myself, I just have to dig out a medal I know I have here that will provide me with the relevant information of my Great Grand Father - his service number and exact regiment.

It would be fascinating to hear of anyone else here having some success with it.

On an entirely different note, our friend 'Kielhauler' has been in touch - He sends good wishes to all, has been very busy in Thailand - including dropping and breaking his camera - but he'll be sending me some more of photo's of his travels soon. He says he has withdrawal symptoms from the forum and patrolling the Atlantic. With all that delicious Thai food and fine weather, I'm sure he'll cope Wink2 Veryhappy

I see your long range micro wave interrupter beam is working well, but please! You simply cannot make Hassan's next mission to retrieve this!

"Mr Celeon! Where is you being?

Yawn! ......To quote Shakespeare; "Much Ado About Nothing"!

It seems clear that the TNT shell of the plutonium device detonated out of sequence; .....resulting in the dissolution of the weapon into a debris field.

This means that there is no working weapon to recover, or any 1968 vintage "nuclear secrets" to waiting to be revealed.

Yes, the possible environmental impact is regrettable, .....but it is no worse than a dozen other "Cold War Incidents" experienced by BOTH sides!
