A massive conspiracy to rip us all off - it was a master plan that duped everyone I think prices are coming down, the BP fuel station I visit regularly at the Severn Bridge had dropped it's diesel price by a penny. I filled up this morning and it was standing at 138.9p per litre and not the 139.9p per litre. It must have been something to do with the supermarket price war going on
Fantastic find |

Thanks Goose, glad you enjoyed it. It was a link off a link off a link kind of discovery. Now for something completely different! A blast from my childhood. - anyone else remember THIS? Hmmm,.. Monkey Magic is new to me.
So the big "O" is coming to the fatherland tomorrow. Not the "Silent O" There was some "displeasure" from the british and french governments reported. About the overall layout of his Europe visit. It seems that Obama's decision to visit Germany instead of the UK first, his plans to give a speech in front of the Brandenburg Gate, and his last minute appeal to speak to Merkel for one hour instead of the planned 30 minutes with Brown and Sarkozy , caused some slight "wondering" in Britain and France. Let Celeon give you a insight into what this is really all about. One word : Appeasement Barack knows that if he should be elected to become the next president of the USA, he will automatically inherit a major role in the secret cold war between Germany and the Washington-Kopenhagen axis. And of course he understands that this is more serious than Iraq or Afghanistan. Now that this unholy American-Danish alliance could come to a turning point, and with "Fall Beiber" looming on the horizon, Obama sees a opportunity to defuse the ticking bomb. Celeon knows that John McCain, supported by the Silent O and his grey friends from Roswell, would continue to support the hardline politics implemented by the alliance forged between George W. Bush and Anders Fogh Rasmussen.

Old US Navy warship sunk by torpedo:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/7523147.stm Also, I've been following the meltdown of the Zimbabwean dollar. The official exchange rate is (accurate to this minute only as it's falling so fast) is currently this: Z$66,423,496,736.0 = 1 British pound! A new Z$100 billion note has just been issued, worth about 7p (US 15 cents), not enough to buy a loaf of bread. A single egg costs Z$35 billion. Inflation is now 3 million % and is expected to hit 100 million % by the end of August. The maximum daily amount that can be withdrawn from a bank is Z$100 billion. I wonder what sort of response you would get, (from those Zimbabweans old enough to remember) if you asked them what they thought of their Pre and Post revolution circumstances now. What good is freeing yourself from "The Evils of Colonial Tyranny" if the "heroes" in your new government guide the country down to the Ninth Level of Hell??? klcarroll |

Anywhere else where there is such a high death rate by Murder, beatings and rapes and a population that in the main is starving and a situation which is not likely to get better, then normally the World's Police would step in........ But where are the prosperous Western Nations.....

@klcarroll:
I imagine they would probably say "somewhere in the middle", in a time when the farms were still run by professional whites but political power had shifted to the overwhelming black majority. At that time Zimbabwe was regarded as the "breadbasket of Africa", exporting foodstuffs all over the continent. It was the leader of Rhodesia, Ian Smith, who preferred "war-war" to "jaw-jaw", declared UDI and pulled-out of the "colonial orbit", much to the chagrin of the Commonwealth of Nations, which then expelled Rhodesia. The intransigence of the white ruling class to face facts only accelerated their downfall. No one could have forseen the monster Mugabe would later become (HM The Queen doesn't hand out knighthoods to dictators and has revoked Mugabe's award only recently). From what I know about the appaling black-on-black violence in the country is it all depends on tribal origin and also what political faction you support. If you tick a "x" on either of these you're in for a bad time. Mugabe's regime can't survive inflationary pressures of this kind. Z$100 billion a day isn't enough to live on! The MDC has just opened talks with the "government" but Mugabe is resisting calls for him to stand aside. At 84, he still wants another 5 years! Thabo Mbeki of South Africa also shoulders much of the blame for supporting Mugabe in all of these crisis'. I've read on some blogs he's called "Mugabe's Bar Stool". @Maverick20007: You were posting as I was replying to klcarroll. I agree there is certain amount of hypocrisy but could you imagine the reaction if former colonial powers were to invade? It would play right into Mugabe's hands. After all he still beats Britain with the colonial stick at every opportunity. He would rally support and it would vindicate all the rubbish he has being saying. Western military action is NOT an option (we don't have the troops either...). This is a south African problem that require a South African solution. Unpacked and settled. |

@Maverick; I don't think it's that simple. Some of us are old enough to remember the accusations that were made against Europeans and Americans during the various "Wars of Liberation" that were fought in the 60's and 70's: ....And some of the names we were called! It is not unreasonable to expect that many of the "Western Powers" are adopting a "Hands Off" policy in order to avoid being called "Neo-Colonialists". The simple fact remains that even though the economy of Zimbabwe (or Rhodesia) was primarily agricultural, it was at least stable prior to the post-revolution "Land Re-Distribution Acts" that effectively evicted the Europeans who remained after the revolution. The past 28 years under Mugabe have been a disgraceful debacle of corruption, mis-management, and human rights violations: .....And yet he maintains that the cause of the Nation's ills are the "Isolationist" Acts of legislation on the part of the EU, British and American governments!!! Maverick; .....How could ANY of the "Western Powers" intercede, .....when we are still being blamed for the problem?? klcarroll |

@klcarroll:
The United States isn't to blame for the problems Africa currently faces, it was never a colonial power in that part of the world. The British, French, Belgian and Italian governments of the mid-late 1800's carved-up their spoils in Africa to suit themselves and split apart ethnic regional and tribal entities DELIBERATELY to cause disunion to protect their minority interests. A case of "divide and rule." One has only to look at the cynical outcome of the Fashoda Incident (1898) for a classic example of colonial manipulation. LINK: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fashoda_Incident Forgive me but I'm a bit puzzled as to your statement regarding the "Wars of Liberation" that were fought in the 60's and 70's: ....And some of the names we were called!" Which wars were those? Unpacked and settled. |

I was listening to the news tonight and again I am being told that our help is needed on the African continent because about 18 million people are in a position whereby they may starve in the next 12 months due to the current climatic conditions. So they require the help of the western world...not because we are any better people but because we are 'richer' countries and live in more temperate climates and as a result our economies can grow.
Zimbabwe has a population of about 13 million. 80% of the people in that country are starving....not because of the climatic conditions but because of the Iron fist that controls the Country...Mugabe. He has taken what was one of the more economically sound African Countries and because of his 'land grab' policies now driven it towards economic ruin. He IS killing his countrymen and he wants to continue doing it for another 5 years.!!!!!!!!! The African countries want the West to help their starving 18 million people, yet when it comes to a country that has 8 million starving people they wish us to do nothing. We have the UN, we have NATO, there must be some method of 'removing' Mugabe and then getting in someone who will allow the West to send in 'Spcialists'...farmers etc, who can get the Country back on it's feet and whilst doing so can train the people who took over the farms in the 'land grab' to run the farms as they were done in the past.The infrastructure is already there!!! The 'West' has gone in to remove similar Dictatorships previously, not all being a sucess, BUT...doing nothing is allowing those people to die a long and horrible death. Yes, once again I, like many others will give to Charity in the vain hope that a percentage of the money actually does help to feed one of those starving people, but I am afraid still that more positive action has to be taken.... How much does 1 bullet or 1 laser guided missile cost in relation to the lives of 18 million people!!!!!!. I am not usually one to get up on the 'soapbox' and am not one who re-enforces the idea of 'helping people to help thmselves', but this is different, 1 man is the cause of this country's problems and I honestly believe that something could and should be done. Think about it when you sit down to have a bit of 'Supper' tonight...probably the fourth time you have eaten today!!!! Maverick PS...If we are being blamed for the problem we may as well go in and claim we are coming back to sort it out!!!!!! 'One of the Older Generation and Proud of it!!!' I agree completely: ....Better to be hung as a Ram rather than a lamb. ....But, unfortunately, most of our leaders suffer from "Burnt Fingers Syndrome". Particularly here in the U.S., we have come to appreciate that if we meddle in another nation's affairs "for moral reasons", half of the World will condemn the action: ....And if we don't, the other half will condemn our inaction. It's a classic case of "Damned if you do, ...And damned if you don't!" Hence all the ridiculous efforts we see these days to set up "coalitions". The World is a sick, sad place: ...And there are no easy answers. klcarroll |

Have patience gentleman.
Celeon's projection : - Mugabe does not stay in power by his little voting booth bully squads but by having the support of the Zimbabwean military. - Only happy soldiers support their commander in chief. - Zimbabwean soldiers are anything else than happy at the moment. - Zimbabwean soldiers cant be happy as they recieve less and less money. AND the money they still recieve looses worth every day since weeks. - Zimbabwean soldiers cant feed their families anymore. Result : Growing desertion and low duty morale. Conclusion : The Zimbabwean military looses morale day by day and support for Mugabe drops with every single day in which he fails to improve the situation. Support for people who offer convincing proposals rise. The current situation in Zimbabwe is what will finish Mugabe off , there is no intervention from anyone necessary. His own party members will already discuss what to do to stay in power. And if that requires to shelve him and sit down on the table with the opposition to form a unity government.... they will do so. First traces of that are already there. Just wait a few months. |
