I couldn't resist buying this when I saw it on Ebay. I used to buy these 'Commando' comics as a child.

This one was published in 1991 and I really enjoyed reading it, bringing back many memories of the storyline standards - Good triumphs over evil, teamwork, bravery etc etc. It's in perfect condition and the artists have done some homework when it comes to the merchant ships too.

Without giving too much away, don't be put off by the title 'U-Boat Curse' - All is well that ends well, as the saying goes, and it is after all aimed at pocket money spending younger people. The story covers both the Atlantic and Pacific theatres. British, American, Japanese and Germans all play their part. It takes all of 20 minutes to read - you could read it on the train going to work, or over a coffee when you get home, sat in the car waiting to pick up your kids from school.

Now, pay attention. I enjoyed this so much, I want you to as well. My vision is that this comic be enjoyed by as many forum members as possible! Put simply, you receive it, read it, send it on. It weighs next to nothing and postage will cost less than the cost of half a beer I suggest.

Based on trust of course, this is how it will work:

1. You PM me your address. The first person to PM me - I will post the comic to them. They then post in this thread that they are ready to send it on once they have read it and the second person to PM me I will forward their address onto whoever has the comic at the time - and so on. I think a week at the most is long enough to read it and pass it on.

2. This thread will be updated by me as to who has the comic and where it is headed next - no addresses will be posted publicly.

3. It would be great if those who read it post a pic of them with the comic

4. I'll include a sheet for each person to sign their user name and rough location onto and to pass on to the next person. This comic has itchy feet, and wants to travel to as many counties and country's as possible - With very little effort, I can see this comic passing through the UK, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Poland, Germany, France, Australia and America - and who knows where!

Commando!

I bought a couple of those when I visited London in 1995. Some of them got lost over the years, but I still got "Jet Pilot", "Phantom Panthers" and "Seek and Sink". The latter has some U-Boat action in it, it is about a German and a Brit who were friends before WW2, then one became a U-Boat commander the other a Swordfish pilot.

In fact, my current carreer's commander is named after one of the Commando characters, Max von Mellenburg. He is the Luftwaffe hero in "Jet Pilot".

I had a similar post some time ago about some books that I finshed reading but don't want to keep around forever...

I am excited about getting the comic and I will let you know when the package arrives. I have been thinking about what kind of picture to take with myself and the comic book. Since I will be the first I will have to set some kind of standard.

Of course! It's just the way it has panned out so far that the comic will be spending a few weeks int he US as that is the order in which I received the PM's - I want my map above with red lines criss crossing all over the place!
