Hey Guys,
Just picked up the game yesterday. When I first tried it, my plane kept rolling over in a crash with Joystick enabled. So I checked this forum. At first I thought it was a big mistake buying this game, you know with all the negativity going on here. I'm a big fan of Crimson Skies and I still play it regularly on my PC. I always was a fan of spitfires and hurricanes so I thought this game would be a wet dream, and guess what... IT iS!!! After reading some topics and updating it to 1.01 I decided to fundle with my settings a bit. I have a Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital 3D and it works just great now. Just spend some time configuring and you will be ready for some serious combat. It is Arcade Flying but I think it is fun!! Check my settings here: Settings This message has been edited. I have an Extreme 3d Pro. I had issues as well. Patch smoothed most of them out. My slider accerlation doesn't work. Plus there is no support for a look around button. I love not being able to look and see how many planes are on my 6. Sometimes hitting closest threat doesn't pick the plane on your butt. This is just crappy IMO. The original Microsoft Combat Flight simulator even did that and worked with my joystick.

Patch 1.02 ***SIGH*** Magic, it must be...
My throttle finally works. That's it! All is fixed now. For those with a Extreme Digital 3D Just put your slider in the middle (at 50%) and remap all keys after installing 1.02. Thanks Ubi! |

well not in my case.
My x,y and z axis are completely set up wrong. x axis is configured as z, y as button 13 and 14 and z as throttle up and down. throttle on the other hand has buttons, too. That means gameplay is completely inaccurat. Plus i have major sound issues?! What the... ? This is a patch? |

I've got the Logi Wingman Extreme Digital 3d as well and I cannot get it work right. Never has in this game.
Am I reading your link right, LGorrit1976? Slider up and down to turn left and right? WTF? Do you actually use your throttle slider to turn left and right when you play the game? Or is this how this screw-ball game interprets the joystick movement? And mizfitz. When you say "configured correctly" do you also use the throttle slider to turn left and right in the game? Or should I have just known that this is a normal config for a console-port? Guess the reason I'm so pissed is I play IL 2 with this joystick all the time and it works great. Sure, my logi is several years old and I'm sure that's why mine does not work and LGorrit1976s' does. Or, at least mostly works. But, damn, this game has been out for a little while ( I just bought it ) and I can't believe a FLYING game has this many problems with joysticks. |
