I have the patch, i was so looking forward to it and now: My Joystick is completely useless now, LogiTech Wingman Extreme Digital 3D, newest drivers, off course. X-axis (left/right?!)is wrongly configured as z-axis, y-axis as buttons 13 and 14 and z-axis as throttle up and down. Throttle up and down is buttons 17 & 18. It is impossible to fly accurate since it maneuvers almost as 0 or full ... And the sound now stutters to an unplayable level! Solve this, it is time! And it is not my system! Got decent hardware, newest drivers, newest OS patches etc.
You gotta be kiddin?! I am the only one with this problem? I was at the support area and still have no clue.. I just hope not to be the last and only one with the specific problem. Work on it!
If you go to the support site and click "ask a question", you'll be able to contact a technical support rep who will be able to help you with your problem.
I have a similar problem, where the game recognises the y-axis as buttons...
This is a serious thing because the feeling is completely different and a lot worse!!!
UbiRazz you say to post questions about the problem, but the only way to fix it I think is to rerelease 1.2 or release a new patch!!! Especially since the problem came with the 1.2 patch because my joystick played perfectly before it...
Reinstalled the game, after 3 attempts got the 2 patches installed (you must play the game between each version) and remapped controls.
Remaps still not recognised correctly but do function. Pitch or Y axis is either on or off as stated by Gunnar - flying isn't easy or natural.
Disappointed that the new "rudder" only operates with cockpit view as the "follow camera" is a major and innovative part of the gameplay and would have benefited from the rudder too.
I was really hoping you'd get it right this time UBI as the game has a lot of potential but after 2 patches and even the basic joystick controls still aren't functioning properly .......ahhh well.
1. left click on START button on taskbar 2. click on RUN 3. enter dxdiag click OK 4. goto SOUND 1 5. under DIRECTX FEATURES, move the sound acceleration slider to maximum.
This may take care of the sound stuttering problem.
I uninstalled the game then reinstalled and also installed both patches. I see that the issues with my Saitek X52 have not been addressed but I only had problems with the twist control rudder assignments before. I cant even do the assignments of any of the joystick buttons after the 1.02 patch. Any one have any luck with the X52? Do they have plans to fix these issues with this most popular of all the new joysticks? I have been trying to play this game since April 06. does anyone have any advise on how to get this working? What support ?
When you say you cant assign any functions, what exactly do you mean? They wont assign at all or they are all going to the same wrong button? I think after the second patch, with all joysticks you must put the throttle in the middle neutral posistion or the set up sees that as the button of choice. If your problem is something else, sorry.
When I try to assign the camera follow { example } A pop up says it has already been assigned, continue? yes, It then assigns it to button 17 which I did not press. Then assigns primary weapon to 17 and just about everything else to 17 until I stopped trying. The mouse is blinking on and off as I move around the screen. My throttle is half way.
On my logitech the game saw The throttle slide as button 17. I read that your throttle is halfway, so perhaps it is another button or axis that is not at zero, because that is what is causing that problem. The set up is seeingt another key being activated as soon as you go to choose a new key. Did you check throttle calib. to verify it was halfway? I was surprised the throttle didnt need to be all the down to 0%, but middle at 50%. Different sticks could be different, perhaps that is your next check, throttle at 0% or off.
Thanks- I just get all the same, but different digit numbers assigned at any throttle position. I hear a constant clicking like a mouse click in somewhat rapid succession, when at the start page. It does sound like my mouse is stuck. When I press primary fire, it stops clicking. Primary fire button [Hair Trigger] could be the culprit but the red indicator light for button 1 on the control page, is not lit up. I have Pacific fighters, Lock On and IL2 with no problems using this stick
I just installed the new patch and didn't lose any saved games or anything. I have a Logitech joystick but don't use it for this game. I've heard way too many problems with joysticks so I just use mouse & keyboard. Also I'm not technically competent enough to know how to "map" a joystick. I know, it's sad but true. I am a computer illiterate...lol! And that's after spending 20 years in the Navy as an Aviation Electronics Technician!!! Keep 'em flying!!
I have the same problem on my Microsoft mouse after loading the 1.02 patch. UBI responded that I should load patch 1.02. Well DUH! I explained that I had already done that. That's what caused the problem. I just bought this game and it has not worked properly yet!
This is crappy support. This is one that should have been caught and should be fairly easy to fix. Flight Sims work with joysticks. If anyone finds a resolution, please advise.
blud, Well it worked for me and I would suggest that anyone having problems try those settings first and they might just work..Who knows? I went out yesterday and brought Battle of Europe. No disk check, just loads the whole program on your harddrive and the JOYSTICK works right out of the box. It also worked just fine on my laptop. The only problem is that it works like a REAL plane and it takes a bit to get use to hit a target. I guess I am spoiled with BA's great video effect and handling and of course not to mention the fun setting up a joystick for it... ????
