Someone needs to look for a new job, and customer base if this is not fixed easily soon. No joy in using any input joystick so far!!!

Yes, I would like to know who's great idea it was to make a flight simulator game where you can't use a joystick. This is just insane. I'm returning this game tomorrow. I'll just pirate it later on, it isn't worth my money.

My Logitech Force 3D Pro doesn't work at all. I can set the buttons on it just fine, but the game won't pick up axis, so the joystick part of the joystick is completely useless.

A few things you can try:

Make sure the joystick is plugged in before you start the game, and further, make sure Windows has a profile on it in the Control Panel and you've already run through the Windows config.

Logitech (I have one also) is somehow really wonky with the way they did the control layouts. Try to switch from analog to digital and see what happens.

They assured me it tested ok...the two gamepads we had here were a cheap Logitech pad ($10 or less) and a nice expensive Saitek. The test team tested the game quite well with a long list of common pads/sticks. All worked well in the end, but you will notice a small difference in performance as you climb the price level for the controlers.

QUOTE FROM BA2 PC MANUAL:
" Devices using proprietary third-party software may behave unpredictably or not work at all... "

For all of you that have issues with your Joysticks try removing the mapping software and just use the Windows HID Drivers.
Should work ok.

It doesn't matter if I use the Logitech software or now, in fact I never installed the logitech software, I only installed it because I thought it might fix this problem.

I am using vista 32 bit os even if I run it XP compatible 3D pro wont map right from inside the game options (although it works fine in control panel of windows ect.. I think it might be a vista issue as well. What OS did you install under?

Oh yeah, I noticed you need to plug the joystick in before entering the game; otherwise it does not detect it.
Sorry for your trouble...works ok for me tough.

Windows XP SP2 32bit.
Try this:
1. Unplug the Joystick, restart OS.
2. Plug it in a different USB slot.
3. Calibrate it in Game Controllers.
4. Run the game again.

Hope it helps.

I have a Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2. BA2 detects it and I can set the X and Y axis, but every button and the Z axis is seen as the slider.

Edit: My Saitek p2500 does not work at all (it works with Gametap just fine) even though BA2 can see it (there are numbered buttons next to the stuff at the bottom of the screen when a gamepad or joystick is plugged in). Mouse controls do not work at all.

You have to keep the Slider in the Negative position so that the game won't detect it as being pushed.
For example, imagine the Slider as being pushed forward on a 10 scale axis (-5 Slow, 0 Idle, +5 Speed): this means Slider + (is on the positive axis, now at position +5). If the slider is pulled back to -5 then it will be Slider - (negative part).
In order for it not to detect it you have to keep it in the middle (0 Null positon / Idle).
The game keeps detecting the Slider because you have it pushed forward or backwards a bit. Try to find a middle position for it and it will not be detected. When you want to map it, just push in that direction (Speed UP = Slider Up) and after mapping take it back to the Idle (middle) position.

No joystick recognitation at all - running Vista with Logitech Force 3D Pro. Reboot, plug in / plug out / calibrate. Nothing works. The only way to play the game is via keyboard. Not good at all.

(PC) I have the Rumblepad2 and programmed buttons but still doesn't work. Its as if the game can't even see my controller. I also have a Saitek Cyborg 3D Gold that won't work either. Flying with the keyboard and mouse is just frustrating. I paid $40.00 for a game I can't even play and I am stuck with it. Ubisoft, you are just ruining your reputation when you don't and won't support gaming gear! This is $40.00 wasted dollars.... great dissappointment!
