The UBi intro as well as the cutscene have sound but after that the game is MUTE. I disabled hardware acceleration and that made no difference. I tried different sound outputs and that did not work. No sound is heard REGARDLESS as to whether the built motherboard sound is selected, the audio card outputs are selected or even a usb headset is used. Yes I have updated to the most recent drivers for the motherboard sound as well as the meridian soundcard.
Configuration:
ASUS P5K deluxe mobo with 4.04 bios
Q6600 Intel cpu, 2 gig ram
auzentech meridian soundcard
nvidia 8800 gts video

Any suggestions?

Sad enough, I had the same problem. BA1 worked just fine and no such issues. Well my opinion is MAYBE the game only supports 5.1 sound output, in BA1 some people encountered sound issue caused by 5.1 output, and MAYBE you can change the game settings to disable it or find a 5.1-capable system for test. Theoretical only.

Oh, my sound card is Realtek AC97 onboard.

It might be an audio Codec that makes the problem. I've seen several games having problems on my system if I install a codec pack like the ACE Mega Codecs Pack.

Try to uninstall all audio/video decoders from codec packs such as the one described above and see if you get rid of the issue. If it is fixed then my recommendation would be to install only the necessary audio/video decoders one at a time. Other games might be affected by this also.

I've got the same problem but I have no audio codecs that I know of installed.

Edit: I found I had Divx and Xvid codes, I uninstalled them but there is still no sound in game. This is the only game I have that has done this. I bought the game through Direct2Drive.

Edit 2:
Windows XP Home SP2
Abit AB9 Pro
Intel Core 2 Duo e6600
2GB RAM
ATI Radeon x1900 with 512 MB VRAM
Creative SB0350 Audigy 2 ZS

DivX and Xvid are video codecs. They will surely not affect your audio. There must be something else.
Do you have the latest drivers for your Audigy card installed?

I'll try uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it.
Edit: Did not fix the no sound problem.

Well, I restored a bare XP install with all the latest drivers. Still no go

removed ALL the audio codecs in device manager.Still no go.

Added openAL v2.03. still no go.

Finally, upgraded to vista-now the sound works!

Actually, I like Vista, it feels a lot snappier and cleaner. We'll see how many compatibility problems I run in to--there's a TON of processes running in the background.

I found that sound from other programs will play while BA2 is running (I plugged in a joystick while at the menu and Windows played a sound). Still no sound coming out of the game after the intro movies though.

It may be a compatibility issue then while running certain drivers in XP since in Vista works OK on the same machine. They'll look into it. Maybe a fix in the upcoming patches...

I played through the first level and the movie after that had sound like the intro movies. It gave me false hopes. Frown

I have an Abit AB9 pro with a VIA chipset. No sound out of the onboard sound or my Audigy 2 ZS sound card.
