I am having difficulty starting the aircraft using the joystick (Saitek AV8R-02). On the original XBox controllers you rotate the right joystick (combo throttle and rudder)clockwise to start the engine, but on the Saitek these are seperate controls and I cannot seem to get the engine started. All other functions seem to work fine. Any suggestions?

I am having the same problem with the P3 version, I just bought the Saitek av8tr-03 fligt stick, and can not figure how to start the aircraft. I have tried rotating the stick while pushing buttons etc. NO LUCK. Every thing else works fine.

The best I have been able to come up with is to rotate the prop as normal but also cycle the throttle from low to high at the same time....eventually it fires and you can take off. This best simulates the action from the original XBox cntroller. Very frustrating that this is not easier.

LPeak,
I won't kid you, it was not an easy thing to do, but the key is the fact that on the original controller you rotate the prop using the thumb joysitck (right one I think) , but on the Saitek stick these are two seperate controls. The best approach is to try to duplicate those movements on the joystick. It has been sometime since I played BA...I have since moved on to AC6 and Hawx, but I remember also trying to change the mode switch (1 & 2)on the side to the one not normally used for playing BA....I think I found it easier to start the engine in that mode, then switched back to the original mode and took off. Try that. Like I say I have started playing AC6 and Hawx and lost interst in BA....BTW the Saitek stick does work very well with these two games if you decide to move to them in the future. I have not found any short comings with it.
