I thought I would post this under another topic, no offence, MayonE.

I purchased both games via Steam and was bitterly disappointed when it would not run. I have a one-off system and I have been able to get past the dreaded "Cannot run Blazing Angels"

Please keep in mind these methods are unorthodox and I believe basically, they break steam access and possibly multiplayer.
I installed the nocd 1.2 patch from gamecopyworld and run the game from the bin/MainR.exe. Settings will need to be changed with the launcher and saved. I was even able to get my Logitech Extreme 3D pro working adequately.

Thanks for the tip, got my copy working now, but I couldn't find a nocd patch 1.2? I found a nocd patch 1.02, used it and it worked.

I found BA2 worked fine (ignoring the painful lack of joystick support for now) on my vista x64.

As for BA1, you can actually get it to work without using a nocd.
Just find the settingsapplication.exe file in your install foler. (For me it's C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\blazing angels squadrons of wwii)
And change its properties to run in win98 compatibility mode. Now starting the game from steam should work.
