Apparently this is some sort of conflict between sound and USB drivers, cause when I start the game with my Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 plugged in, no sound-- but without it, hello sound.

:S

Try this:
After you plug the joystick in, go to:
Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices -> Audio. Make sure your sound card is selected as the Default Audio Device for playback.

Hope it helps.

No soap, unfortunately. I have the joystick plugged in and the proper sound device selected.

I get no sound regardless if I have no joystick (I have a p2500 gamepad and a Microsoft Sidewinder 2) plugged in. I do have a wireless USB keyboard/mouse though and it has a PS/2 connector. I can't recall if my motherboard has a PS/2 connector on it, but if it does I'll connect that and see what happens.

Edit: I wonder if this only happens with certain chipsets. I know VIA was known for having the worst chipsets ever created for a long time.

Edit 2: I started the computer with no USB devices plugged in and there was no sound still.

topeira, don't worry, there is a patch coming. It is only a few days away and will solve most of the problems discovered so far.

I know for certain. I am part of the development team.

I know the current situation is far from ideal, but we are trying hard to solve all the issues that you guys have.

Judging by the knowledge and help given in your other posts I tend to believe you. Just a pity I've seen it all before with UBI and BA1. At least I've not paid anything yet Smile Hope you get it sorted

Another new BA2 new user with no sound. Movies and flash screen sounds work, but no sound in game.

Intel D915GAG mobo (Realtek sound chip onboard), 2GB RAM, BFG GeForce 7950 GT OC 256, Saitek Evo Force (USB), Win XP Pro SP-2 MS USB mouse. Sound diagnostics reports it's DirectX 9.0c compatible. EAX off, HD audio, Codec: ALC860.

Very impressed with BA2 so far - this is my first BA game.

Great work BA2 developers!
Automatic patch when I ran BA2 today fixed my "no sound" problem!

The game auto-updated but there's still no sound in game or in the menus.
