Moderators, do you get paid to do what you do? Are there any benefits? (Well, besides banning people. Lol, j/k.)

If so, I gotta figure out what to do to become one someday

They don't get paid or get any benifits really, only that their presence scares all into submission, except for chuck norris that is who scares fear itself into submission

no sir, we dont get paid, and there arent any benefits (except having ultimate power to abuse keep people in line here ) but its fun, we wouldnt do it if we didnt enjoy video games and meeting people.

The only benefit if you want to call it that, is that you can edit or delete any post. In addition to banning and unbanning, we also have to maintain the sticky posts and move incorrectly placed posts to the correct location.

To become a moderator, you need to show a dedication and desire to contribute to the community (ie. lots of meaningful non-spam posts over a long time period), a mature stance on the rights of others to their opinions (respect for others with no flaming), and lots of time to read everything that is submitted and make sure the rules of the forum are upheld. In addition to all that, there needs to be an opening for a new moderator.

Banning folks is not a benefit but a more of a burden IMO.
Its like a policeman deciding to help you, give you a warning, or a ticket, or arrest you or shoot you. Most of the time we help, sometimes warn, but after that it becomes unpleasant for everyone.

That's cool. It seems to me like it would be a little bit of a hassle going through every thread and revising posts and making sure they are not 'bad'. But hey, you guys do a great job of it .
