Then I can put this pathetic 'gaming' experience behind me. I haven't even played this game too deeply either which is kind of sad, there has been just no ambition to do so. It took a day for me to be able to even play it properly and that's only because of efforts by 3rd party hackers.
The amount of show stopping bugs and mechanics headaches this game generates can only lead me to understand that it was a rushed title with poor if no testing and quality controls. You got my money Ubisoft this time but between it at the last two titles I've bought from you I'm now forced to pirate your games first to try them because demos seem too hard for you guys to make.
There is no doubt in my mind this title was pushed out pre-maturely in order to try to recover sales you knew would be stomped on by FC3 and C&C that are coming out today and tomorrow. I don't blame your marketing idiots for making that mistake, but I also now see which chunk of the company is calling the shots and again...you've made a new pirate today. Its the only way for me as I see it to protect myself from wasting 50$ when it comes to your company's products. If its good I'll buy it, but the odds of that are too low to take any more chances.
The lack of response over all these issues from the company apart from thread-locking any complaints and damage control rather then talks of the all mighty patching just confirms the yarr in me view of ye.

... as if the Fallout 3 forums won't be lit up with "OMG ME GAMEY NO WORKY!!1" posts as bad or worse than here. Were you around for the Oblivion launch at all? Man, was that a nightmare of monumental proportions... at least twice as bad as here by my recollection.
Same types of stuff as here though... game gets to a splash screen and crashes, quests are bugged, devs lied, poor performance, I want my money back, class action lawsuit, etc... etc...
(still about half an hour before FO3 download completes for me)
Actually I'm rolling around through their forums and while I do see the typical issues I'm also seeing hot-fixes and constructive on the fly fixes released. For instance securom to address a validation issue, also the FO3 Devs are participating in the forums, like not just mods who don't even work for the company but actual dev-team staff. Not to mention that the forums themselves are nicely divided into appropriate ranges, unlike how this post itself got shoved into the off-topic forum...after...the was made a few hours later.
Nah, _way_ different league of support and confidence there.
Had the securom bug myself with Fallout 3, but at least it allows me to play the game without BSODing on me like Far Cry 3. So far no crashes, no lags. Thank God Far Cry 3 wasn't the only open world shooty game to come out this week.
