There is an inherent problem with letting rogue regimes alone in their own corner of the world. They grow. We left Germany alone before WWII and look at the catastrophic results. We did not bomb China as MacAurthur suggested and look what happened there. China (along with Russia) heavily supplied the VC in Vietnam, and look at the entire region as a result, Cambodia, Laos, Burma, need I go on? We left Russia alone when they occupied the entire eastern bloc of nations and look at what we had to deal with for decades, and even some of the effects that linger today We negotiated at the 38th parallel and now look at North Korea. The NKs claimed to have abandoned their nuclear program during Clinton's administration and now look where they are today. We left Bin Laden alone and now look where we are with him. This is a theme that keeps repeating itself over and over again, and I for one don't want to see this pattern repeat. Look at how France is attempting to appease the muslims in their country. Thousands of cars were burned and nothing is being done about it. France WILL pay in the future for their lack of backbone today.

Jchung, France is already paying. Their police are now being regularly ambushed and a "good" night is one when only 100 cars or so are torched. You are right, they are already paying, but I meant in a major way such as an attack on one of their reactors, etc... It is shame that so many are willing to tolerate so much, and to the point of their own destruction. Crazy considering how "tolerant" France has been toward the entire Muslim world, and the anti-Isreal stance they take. I just hope people here learn from Europe's mistakes.

People won't learn because they don't want to. Unless people have open eyes and open minds they're doomed to push themselves into the same cultural traps all over again. True, people need to take responsibility for their own issues - but they distinctly do not need to take the blame for the problems of others that those same others caused. France isn't responsible for the problems caused by their Muslim population, but France is responsible for how they react to it and work to stop the problem. It really is not funny, but it certainly is ironic that people claim the US policy toward the middle east is the cause for their hatred for us. If this were true then the middle east SHOULD love France, and yet the violence continues. I'm really tired of the middle east's hypocritical behavior, and although it is true that people here probably will not learn from Europe's mistakes, one can only hope that they would.

Kinda reminds me of the Comanches in west Texas in the late 1800's. There were some settlers, buffalo hunters, that felt that if they only reasoned with the Indians, they would reach an understanding and have peace .. The Comanches cheerfully killed and scalped them and rode away -certain once again, that the whites were fools and cowards.. There was just too much distance between the two cultures and -even though perhaps we-the whites- some os us-desired to make peace and live together, the Indian had no such desire and would only have added yet another reason why we were crazy. and dead...  People have to understand there are times and there are cultures that will never accept anything less than total domination, and will kill you and your whole family and your ugly Aunt Ethel to get what they want.. We have no value or worth to them, we are simply an obstruction in the middle of the road they are using to reach their ends.. You can't reason with a rattlesnake- nor a radid dog-or the psychopath that would cheerfully kill you and dismember you and uh, throw you in an empty well..well, you can't..  People have to stop viewing the enemy through those rose colored glasses... That bulge in their middle isn't too much thanksgiving turkey, it's the Ace "Make it yourself" easy bake belt bomb...Buy one , get one free.
