Ubisoft and/or their representatives revoked the freedom of speech.
That's serious in a democracy where we have the constitutional right to freedom of speech.
As long as this freedom of speech does not end up with personal attacks, discrimination, violation of human rights.

It's a tough one to digest. On the other hand it's nice to know that Ubisoft and/or their representatives thus are able to stop wars, hunger, poverty: Their guidelines and interpretation of same are law.

I raise my glass and tip my hat for Ubisoft and /or their representatives.(to avoid that this could be interpreted as ironical: it's not, it's a compliment)

A man I respect for his views said the other day that there is a difference between the game world and the real world. And of course he's right. Just let it go, buy the game, wait for patches. Buy another game. Or just don't. And I agree. But then again the devotion to this game and its community brings the game world into the real world.

To Ubisoft and/or their representatives: Go stop those wars, hunger, discrimination etc. You apparently have the power to do so.
(to avoid that this could be interpreted as ironical: it's not, it's a compliment)

But with all due respect, could you first of all give us back our Community as a place where everyone feels welcome?

(to avoid that this could be interpreted as ironical: it's not, it's a compliment)

Does this "incite flaming"? Well go ahead, one more thread to close. I'm looking forward to it as I have done my homework.

mmmmmm.... so many long term, well respected community members unhappy with the state of the "official" GR community meeting place.

I wonder... could something be wrong with the current setup or is it some form of mass psychological aberration affecting only members of the GR community regardless of physical location??

Dang.... I'm not bright enough to work this stuff out! Sad

Won't happen soon enough imo.

I can't be bothered with this place anymore. It's pretty retarded when the game's own forums doesn't feel like a community place for the players anymore.

I gave up on this place months ago. I doubt this place will ever be the same as when GR1 was jumping.

It's aight tho. UBI is on the chopping block now since they totally fubar'd one great series (R6) so if they do it to GR it'll be the end of em I think. Already on their way when they flip floped and put the console gamers first and are still leaving the PC crowd in the dark.

I agree with all that has been posted in this thread, especially "It's pretty retarded when the game's own forums doesn't feel like a community place for the players anymore." and "But with all due respect, could you first of all give us back our Community as a place where everyone feels welcome?"

@ UbiSoft,
I can understand the total lack of PC info to a degree. UBI may have deals with other companys that prevent its release. UBI doesn't want to show its hand to the competition. UBI doesn't want to infringe on Xbox sales. Okay fair enough, but why not be straight forward about it and let BT say so. This would be a good start in returning the loyalty of the PC community. UBI has put BT between a rock and a hard place. I don't know about him but it is making many loyal community members miserable. I know allot that you have taken exception with are negative concerns, but dealing with them in a positive manner is what good PR is all about.

It is a shame to see those two go. I believe Snipe was the most helpful member of these forums. He would answer questions with such detail and often times supporting posts and images.

Many companies pay big money to find out what thier shortcomings (areas of opportunity) are. UBI is recieving a free service and instead of acting on the information, they shut it down. I do not understand the UBI "culture". "Areas of Opportunity" are just that, opportunities, if UBI doesn't take advantage of them someone else will.

The place was already 'dead' compared to the roaring gr1 days, but now with two of, what i beleive to be, the most influential gr pc gamers gone, the place is surely, imo, a done deal. Angry Blue Guy

Did you know that the console version of America's Army is being distributed by Ubisoft, and the community manager for said title is... wait for it... the same person who is the community manager for GR2?

Talking to you is like trying to teach a cat that the vacuum cleaner isn't going to eat it.

As much as I agree with the general consensus of this post, Wombat50 is the only one so far to point out what may be obvious. Who are we to say whether BT has taken it upon himself to limit the information the way he has, or that he was acting under direct orders from UBI. And, to that end, if for some reason BT was to leave, what would the guarantee be that the next Community Manager would be any different?

Personally I think BT concentrated too much on the "UBI employee" part of his title, and forgot about most of the "Community Manager" responsibilities. Last time I checked, the consoles weren't the only GR community around here. And the worst thing in my opinion is how BT handled Ruggbutt

Having absolute power and using it does not make you strong.

Having absolute power and the ability to show restraint when using it makes you powerful.

Wombat,
I checked the link and stated my opinion on the Off Topic forum.
I hope you can still read this, as you could already have been banned yourself for speaking your mind! Wink

That's the way things go these days I suppose?!
