The new version 2.7 with 2 new coop maps is out on most game sites. You can't patch 2.6, have to download new at 2.6 Gb. I just got it for the coop.

Does that mean you have to start training over??

I just started AA (Seeing if it's a worthy successor of RVS for SOD) and I would had to have to go thru training again...

I don't think so, I think they couldn't patch 2.6 because they changed a lot of files and textures in this build. It took all evening to download so I haven't had a chance to see if my profile is still active. I am pretty sure they are still stored.

Yea I'll be downloading it eventually. I was going to download it last night but I wanted to play instead. I've been playing AA for a couple of weeks now, maybe less. I've done most of the training, except SF E and E, and some of the medic classes. I don't play RvS anymore, and I shut the server down. AA is pretty fun, and a damn good game for free. I like the experience/honor system. I'm not all that great yet, but getting better. I wish I would have got into it like four years ago when it came out, lol.

Yea, my RVS enthusiasm seems to be on it's last legs.. I have gotten pretty heavy into RED ORCHESTRA. It has the challenge, intelligence and realism that RVS seems to lack...

I haven't gotten far enough into AA to know if it can replace SOD's RVS fixation..

But we have to find something, because RVS seems to be on it's last legs.. All the signs are there...

By the by, Orbit.. I have a post in the RVS forum about just this question.. If you get a second, could ya check it out?

Thanx

interdiction is quite good

I haven't played coop or interdiction yet. I joined a coop server last night, but got tired of waiting for the remaining player to either die or finish, so that I could play. So I disconnected and went to bed, lol.

I installed the AA version that was out before SF was released, and found no off-line play and it seemed to be geared towards stuff I didn't like...

so, I bailed...

Now, you say, AA has co-op? Like GR's co-op? Can I host a game, where just me and my old man can take a map? My parents come to visit "us kids" every summer, and me and the old man play Co-Op GR (just the two of us) to pass the time... would this now be possible in AA?

Is it time for me to revisit this?

Yep, the 2.7 version introduces coop play. I still haven't played AA coop, but it's like RvS coop from what I understand. Human players against the AI baddies. I never played OGR coop.

AA is pretty much an online only game, except the training missions. There is a way you can practice offline though. There is a tutorial on the AA forums somewhere.

When you install the game, it comes with a server manager and server documentation, so I would assume it has the server files. I don't really have time to mess with it now that school is back in session. I just go online for a quick game or two.

The off line training modules are great especially the SF evasion exercise , the CROWS weapon training on the Humvee, and the live fire Javelin training.
There are 2 coop maps, Interdiction, a Ranger woods map and Snakeplain, an SF desert map, requies 15 honor to play. You can play both maps offline or LAN too, very hard, brutal AI because of their view distance.

You can use console commands to open any map to explore the map, and give yourself any weapon class to practice with.

The hardest part of AA is to find a server where the people will play with the least semblance of a team, too many looking to add to their frag rate.

I'll play an IP game with you on GR, Grover. I used to play co-op games with a bud from PA almost every night, but he's obviously TOO BUSY for buds these days.

I promise not to comment on how hot Arianna Huffington is (intended for Sniper's benefit) if you decide to play. Big Grin Also, we can play with the ROT mod or without, but I have an ROT mission that's pretty extreme if you're interested.

I took the training map, and made a mission out of it. The tangos aggression and alertness levels are all off the charts, but the ROT mod gives you better weapons, so it makes it more fair.

Co-op is OK but is limited to 2 maps, you can't play co-op on all of the maps like you could in GR.

Been running it on our server and it seems to pack out although the 9 player limit sucks.

I was actually talking about playing co-op with the ROT Mod on the original GR (With the DS and IT map packs of course).

Anybody have a high speed connection and wanna play, let me know.

Well, I've played a lot of AA coop now, and it lags like mad. Even with a low ping there is a noticable delay between when your weapon is fired and when the bullets impact a target. I try and grab the AR (automatic rifleman) slot when I play Interdiction so I have a better chance of hitting the enemy. Plus you get 600 rounds of ammo so it's hard to run out. Wink Factor in that the AI are always running all over the place, and have precise aiming skills, it makes for a tough game. But it's still fun. Snakeplain is not as bad. I don't think there is as many AI.
