more bad drivers today then there were a year ago... I counted at least 10 car accidents the past two days. Most of them had injuries. One a police officer gets hit by a train at a train crossing. And the others vehicles flipping over on the highway. Causing pileups. So what do you all think?

Along with driving to fast for conditions, writing or even changing CDs. Inattentiveness all the way around and general lack of obeying traffic laws is the reason for the increase of accidents. When women put makeup on in the car along with guys shaving or in some instances, brushing teeth (both sexes) or even eating that utilizes tableware (forks and knives), people have lost all understanding what a car or truck is for.

I live in Colorado Springs. We have 7 military bases here, creating a melting pot of transients and families relocating from other parts of the country.

My theory is that locals have not become accustomed to drivers moving in from out of state; primarily, drivers from big cities, where traffic and congestion is prevalent.

The locals are used to taking their time to get from here to there, or being a more relaxed driver in general. Drivers from the big cities (like me) are used to having to be an aggressive driver in order to get anywhere.

The two groups coexisting together cause problems for one another.

One thing to remember, not all military bases are in a big city. San Deigo, Omaha, DC, Phoenix and Hampton Roads aside, most military bases are in the boondocks, away from large cities for a reason. Sure, some cities have sprung up around the bases, but they are still miles away from major population centers.
