Anybody at RSE still in touch with people at Destineer in Raleigh? It looks like they're hiring a bunch of people for "a large-budget next-generation military shooter...a fully funded AAA game that will also be used by America’s leading military and intelligence organizations for training". Just wondering what they're up to. Wink

I hope they have a console publisher for that too. We need realistic shooters to come back in style.

Edit:
Didn't know who they were, but this sure does sound interesting with their background.

Possibly. I think they did the original Close Combat: First To Fight so it could also be related to that.

That was a good game. One of the first I saw that threw civilians in the mix.
Oh, and you could give your team orders individually, they weren't joined at the hip. LOL

I believe First To Fight started life as a training tool or else had a training tool offshoot so it could be something along similar lines.

First to Fight has to be the most under-rated game of all time. I bought it in the bargain bin for $5 about a year ago and it is extremely well made. It is a very realistic game. It has tons of stuff in it that haven't been put into games since that really should be. I personally really enjoyed the "Human Will" feature that revolved around psychological warfare.

Doing things like suppressing the enemy, flanking, and generally being a good team leader would cause the enemy's will to break and they would flee or surrender. It worked both ways though so if you were in an ambush for example your Marines would lose morale and you would need to fall back.

I thought that was genius and it really rewarded you or screwed you depending on how you employed your team. I can't believe no game has had something like this since.

The ability to issue specific orders to a single Marine such as "Move to", "Suppress", "Form up", and my personal favorite; "Cover" was a Godsend. This is another thing that really should be in more games.

The civilians were good too because it made you really watch your fire. Just because the guy has a shemagh over his face does not mean he's an insurgent, you had to keep your eyes open for an AK, pistol, grenade, bomb-vest, etc.

In short it was really more of a simulator of Urban Warfare than a videogame.

Yeah I liked First to Fight as well, although the multiplayer was a bit lacking. Hopefully somebody can figure out what they're up to this time - I couldn't find anything on their web site other than the job postings.

First to Fight was the 1st person Marine version of Full Spectrum Warrior. Both game were badass. I liked the fact that on the hardest difficulties, it only took 1 or 2 shots to die.

Just as long as gamers keep voiceing their word about authentic miilitary shooters that should be close to Military realism then there will always be some company underground usually will try and make one. We are not alone.

Keep up the good work.
