First Impressions: Dog Tag by Diezel Power
"This upcoming squad-based shooter will attempt to be gritty and controversial, not to mention creative, as it is being made for the PC, the Xbox, and the Xbox 360 all at once." (DiezelPower Studios is the internal developer of KaosControl, with development studios in Nice, San Francisco, and Yokohama.) Hmmm could be interesting... |

Looks good, a bit too Matrix maybe but i like the detail on the models and textures and the dark/greyish feel to it, if you end up fighting US marines its sure to become controversial, doesnt seem so realistic or acurate but if the tactical gameplay is there it may turn out good, i'll keep my eyes on this one, thanks edit: those muzzle flashes need some serious tone down, they look like they are firing flame throwers or something... |

Holy ****, that game looks good. They gotta work on their models... bit pointy on the edges. It looks like Doom3 too. But if they can put in 1 hit kills for once, it might turn out to be a **** good game.

Don't be fooled.
Look in the second picture, at the arm the guy's holding up against his ear: The dark outline on the right of it says it's prerendered (in 3dS MAX) against a black background and then isolated and put against the current background. The background is composed by a prerendered helicopter and a photo of a building. On the site you linked there are a couple of other prerendered/manipulated pictures - the one with the top-view on the helicopter and the ones with the face close-ups (compare the telephone chords in the helicopter to the metal bar in the background - not very hard to tell what is rendered from what isn't, right?). The other pictures on the site are probably in-game - you can tell as they don't look as nice (pointy edges, as Apollo remarked), even though I'd say they didn't do a very good job even with the prerendered ones. The colors on the textures are dull, things blend together on screen, it's hard to tell a character in the foreground from one behind him which counteracts a feeling of depth. The container is just a box with a photo of a container mapped on it - the vertical bars aren't even in the model. I take this as an insult! This message has been edited. Still, the ones we can tell arent prerendered show some very sharp textures and the models look good enough to me, im sure things will improve in the future especialy if the game really is only 20% made, i find the preview somewhat encouraging though the fact the game will be another urban one disapoints a bit, it still sounds promissing from what i read
