Hi, i just recorded and put together a lock-on film but when i try to make it into a .avi or .mov etc. File, they all seem to be about 200MB in size at about 3%?!?! Is there anyway to make it become smaller in size i.e like the ones you download normally that are usually no bigger than 80MB??

mmm what editor are you using (premiere, vegas, movie maker etc)
as far as i know .avi dosent compress anything (i.e. the video is 'raw') but .mov should (quicktime i believe) what do you mean by '200mb at 3%'? |

yeah im using vegas (hence the topic title) and ive tried using .mov but i check at about 3% and each time its well over 200mb in size and thats at 3% so at 100% when its finish the file will be huge. Just wondering if there is any way to cut this size down by using a different method to render the file to be smaller in size?

Hmmm have you tried to compress the AVI with "Dr.DivX"?
The DivX codecs provide very good quality (customizable through Dr.DivX) and very good file sizes... A movie of mine that was 3.65GB uncompressed, turned out to be 36.3MB in size. And that was under high quality video & audio! -AMD Athlon XP 2800+ (2.08GHz, 333MHz FSB, 640KB Cache) -Asus A7N8X (nVidia nForce II) -1024MB 333MHz DDR SDRAM (PC2700, CAS2.5) -ATI Radeon 9800Pro 128MB (ATI Catalyst 4.7) -Microsoft Windows XP Professional Edition (SP1) Gib007 |
