This is probably a very stupid question, but I just can't find the answer.
Can you record tracks in-game which you can review as many times as you like? If so, what are standard bindings to do so? I've seen several "Begin recording ..." in the Controls-list but I don't know which one to pick for recording video- and audio-material. Since my LOMAC is already sort of messed up (I have no sound (if you have any help concerning sound, answer in THIS THREAD plz) so I don't want to mess things up even more by doing something wrong. Thanks in advance. |

I believe that you are able only to records tracks from within the mission editor.
Just open the editor from the game's main menu. Load up a mission and instead of selecting "Fly" just select "Record" from under the "Flight" menu. Once you end the mission, the game should prompt you where you want to save the track. Once saved, you can replay it over and over again. This is how most ppl make movies from LOMAC. You can use the game's "Record AVI" option to make your avi file, but it limits the AVI to 2G I think. Hope this helps, |

Okay, thanks. I managed to record some footage. But isn't there a way to record when you're already in game? For example, I just want to record some parts like take-off, dogfight, landing instead of the whole flight (taxi, take-off, flight, dogfight, flight back, landing, taxi).

Unfortunately, there is no way using the game's features to record "in flight" whenever you want.
You will have to use a third party recording utility such as Fraps or GameCam to record "on the fly" so to speak. I have used the shareware version of both. Fraps shareware only allows for 30secs of recording at a time, whereas GameCam doesn't have this limitation, though the quality of the playback in GameCam is very low, in my opionion Fraps is the most popular as even the trail version lets you record audio as well. Try it out and I think you will like it. www.fraps.com www.planetgamecam.com |

I'm just assuming you are trying to make a movie here, so here goes:
You dont want to show the ENTIRE track correct? You just want the take-off - dogfight - landing, correct? Well, create a track file where you take off, then end the file and save it. Create a dogfight track, play it, end it, save it. Create a landing track, play it, end it, save it. Now you have 3 tracks that you can mess around with. This is how i make my movies. And during editing, most of the stuff will seem seamless, like everything happend all at once. If you are NOT making a movie, then there is no way to record in-game. You can only start recording a track from the mission editor screen. |

Hello all

Use "What U Hear" instead of "Microphone" as the audio source.
Also use a CODEC so that it isn't overflow/corruption in the video file or anything else that causes loss of audio. Also make sure you let the audio recording complete, otherwise you end up with a separate video file without sound and an audio file. --- a bit more detail You have to set your recording device. Hopefully your audio card came with a program to control the feature of the audio card. Creatives audio card has had different ones during the years, the SB Audigy now has the "surround mixer". Normally people have the recording device set to "Microphone", it should be set to the "What U Hear" option. LockOn cannot make the audio file itself but runs the audio card with audio acceleration just as when you are playing the game, the same and only way LockOn knows how. LockOn then at the same time as it runs the audio card open up a recording. It is now when you have "What U hear" selected that the recorded audio file get filled with the audio the card is producing and not what is coming in from the microphone jack. LockOn then add the audiofile to the videofile. ------ Changing angles: You record with Ctrl-R and save the trackfile. You then hit Ctrl-E for "Video (E)dit" and change the views anyway you like, what happens is whatever keys or mouse or zoom commands you press get inserted in the video file. When the session is over you get to save the modded file. This file is what you use to record AVI files. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Maj_Solo, |
