I don't know Adobes Premiere but what I know is, that black bars can easily be added to a movie with VirtualDub.
You can grab VirtualDub at http://virtualdub.sf.net It is free software under GPL license. Titan3025 --- AMD Athlon XP2800+ 1 GB PC400 DDR-RAM MSI KT6 Delta ATI 9600XT 256MB Saitek X45 |

to make them in photoshop.
You have to use a alpha channel. So that the middle(your white background) will be transparant. And then save as a targa 32 bit. And then it should work. if you need more info about it, just tell me. |

S!
Guys..Could someone tell me that "Letterboxing" is?? How does it look like? Best Regards Falcon |

letterboxing is basically black bars at the top and bottom of the screen.
in the traditional sense, this was done (usually films and DVD's)to ensure that, on a conventional TV (i.e. a 'square' or 4:3 ratio) that the aspect ratio of a film was preserved, and the film could be seen in widescreen, as the director intended, becuase if you look at a cinema screen, it is much wider then it it high (a 16:9 ratio) since this could not be preserved on to a regular tv, black bars were put to fill empty space (otherwise a film would be streched vertically, and it would be distorted) if you ahve a widescreen TV, and watch a DVD, you wont have this problem, and all the screen will be filled for an example in lock on terms, see glowing amraams - superior fighters, or his silent kill. also little donkeys unleash hell has it too the reason ive put it into my latest is because i think it gives the film a more 'cinematic' feel. Some of the shots in my latest are (i think) sweeping and epic, and i hoped to enhance this by adding black bars top and bottom |

Vegas can do the letterboxing w/no problems. It's just one of the options in the program.
