This little tut was exactly what I was looking for.
Why not make it a sticky? I think many new movie makers that come here to seek info will want this first. a ------------------------------- What goes around, goes around... |

Ruggbutt also wrote this on Frugals:
----------------------------- The in-game AVI tool renders the movie one frame at a time. You record your track, edit the views then render. You pick your punch in/out points and make your tracks. He used Vegas to edit the movie with. Here's how the rendering goes: We have found that compressing out of the AVI tool w/Morgan Jpeg gives us a smaller file but leaves the quality high. You can record about 4 minutes of straight footage w/that codec in order to keep the files under 2 gigs in size. Over 2 gigs will corrupt the AVI and it won't open. After trimming the clips, putting them together in Vegas and applying any filters/transitions we finalize the movie w/Dr.DivX, using DivX 5.1.1 codecs. Here's a clip (right click, save as) that I rendered using my in game res. There are no filters on this clip, this is straight from the game at 1280x1024 and using Morgan. I dump the size down to DVD size (720x480) and run it thru DivX. The AVI tool is slower to use than say Fraps, but the quality is unsurpassed. ---------------------------- Hope he doesn't mind that I pasted it here. a ------------------------------- What goes around, goes around... |

Hi Guys,
Just playing with the video making stuff in LOMAC. I have made a small track. Nothing special, but to see how it's done and I seem to be having some problems. But 1st some questions that might help solve my problems 1. Everyone seems to recommend the Huffy codec. Is this the best one to record to direct from LOMAC? 2. In the "Compression" options there is a "Quality" option. I assume that this sets the amount of compression. Am I correct in this? When it says 25% (the default) what does it mean? Now for the problem. I have bumped all of my LOMAC settings to maximum so as to get the best quality rendering possible, however when it creates the video the video appears to be a slideshow. I can't work out why it is doing this. I have the "Rate" option set to the default 25fps. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
