Hi guys!

What is better to use and what gives best quality? I read about using the ingame rendering tool is of very good quality. Others write the ingame tool sucks. I experineced during testing that it created mega big files.

I tend to use FRAPS because it's easy to use and creates smaller files. Disadvantage of cource lower frame rates - I guess. Should I get a separate harddrive ???

What codec should I use to get best results from ingame rendering? After installing HUFFY CODEC I got the effect to get kicked out of LOCK ON when I want to record with the ingame AVI tool. Did anybody have that experience? This came up after installing HUFFY CODEC.

Thanks for your help

Huffy no longer works with 1.1 (or later). It crashes me out too. I use Alparysoft. And the in game tool sucks if you don't know how to use it. I render all of my stuff maxed out, and I have a tweaked config file that would bring LOMAC to 1 frame every minute if you played the game that way. It works great for rendering cuz the AVI tool renders one frame at a time. LOC has been running the AVI tool as sequential screenshots. He leaves it running all nite and in the morning his whole track is finished. He then imports it into Vegas after setting his screenshot length to 25fps and drag and drops them in. He made his last two movies that way. I'm going to finish my new F18 movie in that fashion. The good thing about the sequential screenies is that there's no file length maximum.

Ahhh Amraam !!! My EXPERT !!!

You are using FRAPS right? Does it make sense to use a second harddrive to capture the output with FRAPS to keep the framerate up? Or doesn't it matter where FRAPS write the output to? I heard that a second drive would be better.

Give me a little overview what kind of settings you currently use with FRAPS, DR.DIVX etc.
I already did some test shots but I am still not sure what will bring the best results.

Kind regards

Ruggbutt thanks for the info about HUFFY. That gives me some explanation I got kicked out. Is Alparysoft a codec which is free to download?

I will check.

Thanks for your help.

Well, regarding FRAPS, 2 HD's will help. Ive got one HD, 10 000 RPM with windows and all that, and one data HD, 7200 rpm. I can select a setting in fraps and actually maintain the selected fps when recording. I use 20-25 fps and record at half speed in-game, then speed the clip up in Vegas to get a very nice frame rate on the clips. I also record at "half size", since i play at 1280x1024 res.

Hope this helps

Yes Glowing_Amraam
I know this trick with half speed in game and then speed up in VEGAS but was not sure if this is ok when I want to use the game sound which then has to be separated from the video file or something like that. Is this complicated to get the correct sound back with a speed up movie???

Thanks for your help!

Well... in theory.. if you slow a sound down by 50% .. and then speed it back up 50% .. it should sound like it did in the first place. Big Grin

... not exactly ATLAS ... when you slowdown game speed, sound didn't. Soundtrack will be only 2 times longer, but the same pitch. Then, when you speed back whole track in VEGAS, sound will be uncomfortable, let you try. Not so easy as it seems. Best way for me is in first run record video at halfspeed, then in second run record sound at normal speed .... all other is editing only.

Hi tommy,

you mean you do a second recording? A second movie with FRAPS just to get the sound? Can you synchronize that with what you recorded the first time?
